Terrible news - no words are likely to be of any comfort at all (cept maybe POG's)
Hopefully you can find the strength to either build another or let her go and go on and do something equally awesome

Bolleaux as they say in France. This was coming along nicely. I had my Oxford Traveller nicked last week and found it on top of a pile in the scrappy, crushed, so I'm sharing a few of those negative feelings at the mo.

That sucks for sure, I know how it feels. Mine wasn't as bad as yours as the fire was contained in the engine bay but the car interior was ruined by the foul smoke. I hope you manage to find another. PS, the fire extinguisher in that pic above did nothing to put the fire out.

PS, the fire extinguisher in that pic above did nothing to put the fire out. Thats because the bonnet is up..... Leave it closed, or just popped, fire through the gap/grill and it probably would have saved it .............................................. Rotten news Mart, really sorry for you fella, but at least you are ok and the engine and box will live again (Might need a some new seals in the box, but I`d imagine it will be ok.... there will always be another shell/car, much harder to repair you Oh and the hair will grow again too ;D ;D Cheers Dom

I only escaped the rear of the Alfa doing this as a guy pointed out it was smoking He loaned me his extinguisher as the dirt throwing wasn't working! Terrible news fella - get out there fishing for a replacement immediately

Bad bad news This also worries me slightly as all my fuel gear is in the boot along with the battery. There are no leaks in my fuel system, but i can smell vapours faintly. I had read somewhere that the smell can get through rubber hoses....but would it be enough to cause an explosion? *worries*

mine didnt explode, it went "WHOOOOMPH" a few times though, my advice is to fit a decent firewall, it will give you time to get out and it may even save your car.

Aw sh1t on a stick! I am really gutted for you mate. I was really hoping to see this car in the flesh some time. Especialy as you had done everything proerly with all the right parts (levelled engine, mt75 hybrid box etc...) Get another shell (cheap enough) or get something else to drop the lump in. Scimitar would be good, though they do have the odd electrical fire. Oh, hang on.
