OK I am pretty much defeated by a head bolt. Muthafunker is impervious to all attack. I have just emptied a tank of air from my 3HP/150l compressor through an air impact gun on the bee-atch and still it will not move. I am reluctant to geta blowtorch on it due to the high level of combustibles in the area and my lack of a fire extinguisher ATM. Other suggestions? PAH!

Get a bottle, cut it in half keeping the cap end, locate and seal it over the bolt using something handy, fill it with plusgas or similar penetrating fluid (i.e. not WD40), leave it overnight - so it all sits and soaks submerged...had success with that before. S'not reverse thread is it?

Nope, not a reverse thread. Although I've been there before with Mopar lugs nuts. Not all years are reverse thread...
I'll try the "submerge" trick, if I can work out some method of doign it.

big massive scaffold pole on the end of the breaker bar. Even if you snap the head of the bolt off, when you take the cyl head off the stud should still remain to attack with maul-grips and wd40

Breaker bar and scaff pole... will give you far more torque than an air wrench. And try tightening it a fraction first... sometimes breaks the 'seal' of corrosion.
Edit: ^beat me to it!

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

If you say you've tryed everything I don't want to teach you how to suck eggs, but PB Blaster, it's meant to be really good and it comes in a funky retro-style can....... ....or Freeze and Unlock by 3M we had some at Halfords it's meant to freeze the area to -40 degrees C, we used it on a bikecycles crank bearing thread that was corroded to fook and it work really well. Failing that soak the bstard or heat it up like you said ;D

Get down the plumbers merchants and get some freezing spray (nitrogen spray) about £2.50 a can. Empty this on it and it shrinks the two components by shrinking them should just wind off then! Wear gloves by the way

Yes snapping it will allow you to get the head off, but if its so tight it won't come out with an airgun its never gonna come out with molegrips.

thanks for the many and various suggestions for things in cans. I shall try them all out. I tend to use good ol' 3-in-1 (dropper can or aerosol) so I've not tried PB Blast or this freezing stuff, nornally I just get out the old blow torch and that does the trick. Normally the head would be snapped off by now But its a big momma funker

breaker bar with a tube or somethinh over the end get someone to apply pressure on the bar as you smack the end of the breaker bar with a lump hammer ,its the equivalent of using a 3/4 drive air gun and usually works

Matt Yeah, but once the head is gone, the bolt isn't under any tension so should screw out easily. I've lost my rag with a headbolt before, chopped its head off with an angle grinder and just removed the remaining bolt with my fingers after taking the head off! ;D If the thread of the bolt is right the way down into the block and that's where it's seized, I can't see any amount of penetrating oil working as it won't get down to where it's needed. Extreme temperature (either hot or cold) seems like the best solution to me, if it won't budge with a 4-ft breaker bar.

If you know anyone in the Aircraft industry, ask if they can get hold of something called Mouse Milk. It's loads better than plusgas is but seems really hard to get hold of.

Is PB Blaster available here then? Couldn't find it last time I looked; the yankee boys on a bike forum I use swear by the stuff.
One i've used is ATF or diesel, and acetone, or celly thinners I'm told works also. The acetone thins the oil and lets it soak further/quicker than it would otherwise. Freed off one well farked brake caliper that was seized for many yrs like that, but it didn't shift another. Damn cheap though if you have the substances to hand like I did. The acetone/thinner evaps of course, so you can just mix up some more after a day and sluice it again.

and yes, I've tried a selection of long bars but with the engine loose on the garage floor theres only so much force I can apply before it just falls over... I was trying to get the heads off so I could check the bores before I go off to Brum for work so I could get what I need ordered before I go. Looks like leaving it until the weekend. The fire extinguisher just needs a recharge...

I've often found striking the bolt downwards works.... just make sure you hit it flat though. Seems to break the seal quite well, used it on several tricky wheelnuts.
