We'll be making judgements based on our feeling for the venues and a whole host of other criteria, however we'd like to know your thoughts on the 3 venues we have for consideration : Gaydon : www.heritage-motor-centre.co.ukHaynes : www.haynesmotormuseum.comLydden Hill : www.lyddenracecircuit.co.ukWe're not looking for more ideas for venues, just your vote on each of these at the moment. There is still a massive way to go before we make any decisions so just some peliminary thoughts from ya'll.

Ive voted for any of the above, as I trust your judgement Although the factilities at Gaydon were particularly good. It would be nice to make it different every year D

Yup. I've been to far too many events at Gaydon. Have been to Haynes once and I remember it being quite impressive.

Lydden Hill looks like the "best" venue, but the location will be against many northern / midlands members. I doubt I'd go that far south, depending on the price of petrol at the time and all that...
Gaydon is at least pretty central and equally inaccessible for the northern and southern members.
I haven't yet seen the Haynes collection so I'd probably go if it was there, although its a fair run again for the northern members.
A separate track event effectively splits the event and sounds like more arze to organise and marshal. If you have a track in mind near Gaydon why not just have the event there? If you do a Gaydon+track event in '09 I would probably just go to the track.

too far south for the northern members you think. some of them don't turn up to stuff on their own doorstep, so don't worry about location.

Gaydon is coveniently central for all RR'ers I have to admit. As much as I like shows on my doorstep it's just not fair on the northern contingent.

I think some track action would be great - RRG08 was fantastic, but for me a big part of the event was the Friday and Saturday at the camp site, whereas RR07 had more of a specific "climax" with the circuit action (plus the extra... umm... "orgasm"... of the vintage racers the day after). ;D As for location - doesn't really matter to me. If I'm so broke I can't afford to go then it wouldn't matter if it was 50 miles away or 250... the extra cost in fuel wouldn't really be a make-or-break expense. Any of the above would be great. The event could be held in the car park of Tesco Milton Keynes and it would still be awesome - it's the retro-riders and their cars that make the event more than anything.

How about Royston MOT Centre? Basically anywhere is good for me, as long as it doesn't clash with Skoda Club meets!

Agree with Dave here, voted for Haynes simply because I haven´t been there (yet) Gaydon was great and i´d be more than happy to go back there next year! However I think that based on what I experienced this weekend it´s more about the people than the cars. As we do over 1000miles with a ferry inbetween it doen´t really matter whether it´s north or south to be honest. If it`s at a track, fine...a museum great, a combination of both or none..it doesn´t really matter to me as long as we can get together and have a good time. ...so as Dave said, don´t worry about the location too much ..... ;D

What he said, i would love for the show to be in lydden hill but that would be kinda unfair on all those ooop north. I'm prepared to travel wherever in the country for an event like this but i don't think others are so willing. Gaydon is the best place geographically. Besides i'm doing a host of trackdays, so i'm sure i can put up with one weekend not being about ragging a car.

I voted Yeovil Haynes, as its a wonderful place, chock full of classic cars.
Then noticed Lydden.... Obviously Lydden is going to be very convenient for southern members like me, but as alistairk noted, that would make it harder for more northern members.
I vote for either Yeovil or Lydden
