It's a lot of money for a circle of paper TBH.
You do get a funny look in the post office when you go to tax your car and ask fo a 'Free money for the Government token' too. ;D

utter cack, isn't it. I'll do maybe 6,000 miles this year in my car. so why do I have to pay twice as much as someone doing 30,000 miles in a 1-litre corsa

I taxed my Imp recently and didnt have to pay anything ;D I have never had to pay for a tax disc - something for which I will always be grateful to Ken Clarke As for annual mileage, I only do about 6,000 pa in the Amazon (that's all it's insured for), and maybe 1500 / 2000 in the Sprite (despite being on a classic policy, it's covered for unlimited mileage at no extra cost). Ironic that the tax renewal letter for the Sprite arrived this morning...

The swine could quite literally fill all the potholes up with our money and still have a few billion left over......
A Labour candidate knocked on my door on Sunday hoping for support. 'We've been good to families' he said spotting my two ankle munchers behind me. 'No you haven't, both my wife and I have to work to support the kids, we both need to drive and fuel duty is crippling' I replied. He couldn't answer that so went! Vote! You must be joking.

IN France theres no car tax! And all the classic car insurers offer a 'fleet' insurance policy which covers any number of cars, the price is based on the age of the youngest of the cars, for about £200!
So you can buy any old crate off the bay, no sweat!

The whole tax system is cack - my old G40 which made a hell of a noise, threw out more noxious gases than my backside after a curry, and generally was a highway hooligan, was £60 to tax for 6 months - 1272cc and all. GF's mondeo - nice family motor, wouldn't scare ducks - half as much again. IN France theres no car tax! And all the classic car insurers offer a 'fleet' insurance policy which covers any number of cars, the price is based on the age of the youngest of the cars, for about £200! So you can buy any old crate off the bay, no sweat! << Starts looking for cheap houses in France.....

Ah, electioneering time's hilarious/infuriating. You get pestered in the street and at the front door (no prizes for guessing what a deranged skint commie says to a Tory who arrives at the door to ask for his vote, a clue is that it ended with "so p*ss off!" ;D ;D ;D), and in the street (some Scottish Socialist Party guys, all of whom are two-faced traitors, ask any scotsman who is actually a socialist, got the same treatment in the town centre when they were looking for support) The best one has to be the labour man who made the mistake of coming to the door, he got it about their Big Brother-ish exploitation transport policies, the ongoing business with the shutting down Inverclyde's schools and hospitals purely to leave more money for the fat cats and less for the people, and about everything else I could think of! ;D ;D

True, we're in for a lot more screwing from the government after the next election, regardless of who wins, it's very easy to say "That curse word Blair and his cronies screwed us, let's vote for the other guy", but the Tories are likely to be at least as bad, if not worse, the Tories might well be more money obsessed and dangerous (judging by how they feel about immigrants, they'd be even more supportive of George W Bush's scheme to nuke everyone with darker skin and/or different opinions to themselves!)

Well said Rev 9! T Bliar might not be flavour of the month (certinly not with me anyway) but it doesnt tke much nouse to see a pretty grim future under M. Howard. Privatised DVLA anyone? Rover ' regrettably succumbing to market forces'? Tossers.

id rather take my chances with tory boys than letting the current lot carry, on i don't really get why any sane person would want the current bunch of inbred F*cktards carry on they have done enough damage, time to put them out to pasture.

The answer is simply that the current lot, sadly, are a preferable option to the alternative. If you are gonna blindly vote automatically for the opposition just cos you are not in 100% agreement with the party in power, thats a pretty half-arsed and irresponsible vote if you ask me. Have you looked at the tory manifesto? If not, how do you know things would be better under them? The tories have NO original policies, simply more of the drudgery they served up for years while they were in power, which eroded 90% of what was put in place to benefit the general public, i.e.you and me. If you can quote one tory 'core policy' apart from wittering on about immigration i'll eat my hat. Also if you can propose why things would be better for you under tory rule i'll be amazed. There's always the free car tx thing but if that was brought back in their first term i'd be amazed. remember it was them who introduced the 'inflation-busting' twice yearly fuel tax increases. I know its is annoying to pollute a fun car forum with politics but that sort of unintelligent approach to voting has got the UK to where it is now with a smarmy curse word prime minister who thinks he has a direct line to god, and a shockingly half-arsed circus of an opposition, none of whom can string a policy together which will benefit the country as a whole.
