Fascinating stuff folks, really . I looked into registering one of my cars in France, and insuring it at my Mums French address. But as I change motors more often than pants, it worked out to be a pretty fruitless project, if you think road tax is bad in this country, try Singapore... If I remember rightly, if you have a classic car you can drive it for twenty eight days a year, displaying a tax disc like token with your selected days date on, you have a book of twenty eight to use. Pretty horrible eh? Take into consideration that road tax is thousands of pounds, not just hundreds, and it becomes all the more unbelievable. When I was last there three years ago a brand new Beetle was the equivalent of over 100K sterling, I curse word you not. My friend was earning over 66k sterling tax free and couldn't justify the expense of a car. Thats ladies and gents is some messed up tax for you... Anyway, France you say? ;D

Yuk! I noticed when I was in ireland that their tax discs are pricey, seems to depend on the engine size. I saw a Merc SL55 gay millionaires' wagon, the tax disc supposely cost about 1500 euros for a year!!
