Like a lot of people, I have to work around limitations like lack of money, lack of space, lack of time, etc... But, if these limitations were lifted, what would you want your car to be like? For my Benz, I'd want... Complete strip-down, acid dip of the chassis Gloss black paint Fast air suspension Custom leather interior Some discreet but high quality ICE Maybach 57S engine and gearbox - 6.0 litre, twin turbo V12 Not sure about wheels... ...ah... if only... ;D What would you do to yours?

Your idea sounds pretty spot on to me, although I might tone down the engine just a little!
I think I'd keep it burning the veg oil to be honest but nicely modded. That said, I love the beige! Can't get rid of that! An interior revamp would be nice though.

for the Manta.. strip to component parts / bare metal, repair and rebuild whole car, satin black (as in not matt but not metallic shiney) paintjob full Lotus Carlton running gear conversion, engine, 6speed box, LSD, remake the suspension and drive shafts to fit the 5stud hubs and brakes under the standard manta body no wide arches or unseemly bulges, no 400rally kit, reasonably tame 16/17inch wheels, don't want any outside clues as to the spec breathe on the engine / turbos to get it up to ~450bhp, ideally 500bhp if that's doable without chewing the engine/turbo parts too badly rollcage dash mounted 7inch motorised LCD touchscreen in the radio hole car-pc built into the boot for music and net access on the move go scaring people on the motorways

I'd have a new Mercedes AMG CLS 6.3, take the body off it and drop a stack light coupe shell on instead, loverly modern power and relability with some style.

Polo: New wings, front panel. Body blasted/dipped, painted in the same tornado red, redo the chequers on the boot but with satin black. Have the banded steels completely sand blasted and painted satin black with chequered centre caps, notch the chassis rails and change to mk1 golf shorter front shocks to allow me to run superloww. Have the arches rolled front and rear (before paint...), get some better condition arch covers. Plenty of other 'plans' as well

Before I'd start any retro work i'd built a MASSIVE garage with heating, storage, lifts, lathes, all the tools etc, then..
Mini:
Get rid of the servo and replace with Single master cylinder. Properly cut the front arches before painting. 1380cc, Arden 8 Port head with ITB's and DTA ECU, Steel crank and LSD. Clean up the engine bay more. Fit green tinted glass instead of clear. Not cut a hole in the roof for an ariel. 10x6.5 Banded steels with Yokohamas. 10x9 Splitrims with stretched ATV tyres.
Metro: Sort out all the bodywork. Carbon fibre bumpers, bonnet, boot and doors. Convert front for coilovers. Turret the rear for coilovers. Replaced rear subframe with titanium bean and titanium radius arms. Fully adjustable suspension. Solid mounted everything. Paint it gold. Multipoint cage.1 Bucket seat. 1925cc K Series on ITB's, steel crank, LSD the lot, full race jobbie. On board camera system. 13" splitrims and 4 Pots.
Then i'd buy my other dream retro's and continue going 'All out'

I've more or less got everything I need for my car so and Cat 1 Alarm and rolling road set up would see me happy
Other things I would like is a 2 poster ramp, enough fine weather to get things done, a bigger garage and more standing space, and a fully lined back account!

For the Primera nothing because anything you did would make it less caable of fulfilling the role of daily driver.
The Mini, the next step would be for someone to give me a handful of twennies and trailer it away.
The Golf GTi (that I don't actually have). 2.0 engine, touch of the stick, 15" steels, arches off. Job done

For the Imp: Make it look like this- Complete strip down, perfect all the dings and dents brought on from the crash with as little filler as possible. (Still means alot) Repaint in the original Caribbean Blue Lowered on air bags so it can sit on the floor, yet be driveable with the flick of a switch Lots of lovely shiny chrome/black numberplates etc. Cobra Classics inside Chess board dash with moon eye dials Chess board headlining Engine bay cleaned up with everything moved under back seats 1.6L Ford Zetec SE fitted ala original imp engine, maybe even supercharged who knows. Fully mappable though, all that jazz. Rad moved to front Custom wiring loom incorporating alarm, remote locking etc Dixie horns!!! Yeah so erm, not much todo then At least I've got the wheels already I guess

Sprite - body sorted (a few icky areas), tweaked rear arches so that the Mambas don't scrub, engine rebuild finished, & a shorrock blower ;D Maybe a Ford 5 speed box, but not essential
Amazon - full but sympathetic restoration, modern turbo diesel (don't know which but whatever fits, goes well & doesn't drink much) & Torque Thrust Ds with matt body colour centres ;D

Jag XJ40 - Borbet A rims (or Jag 8x16 lattice), twin headlamps, a respray and a supercharged XJR engine. Actually, sod it, a twin turbocharged 6.0 V12. Porsche 924 - 968 running gear, a cage, stripped out with buckets and harnesses but looking as it does now with BBS wheels. Though an engine that wasn't in little pieces would be a start. Mk1 Escort 1300E - mint standard purple 2dr 1300E with Mexico steels on the outside, stock and mint on the inside. 2.3 200bhp Duratec under the bonnet, close ratio type 9 and Atlas axle. Anything would be better than a shell and few boxes of bits. Mk2 Escort trials car - actually I'm nearly there LDV Pilot Campervan - decent, plush fully working inside made by somebody who has the first clue as to what they're doing. Plus a turbo diesel engine. Actually, maybe not an LDV Pilot... Mk2 Polo - coilovers, G60 steels, maybe a 1.8T. Haven't thought about this one enough as i only pick it up tomorrow. This daydreaming does me no good

Big arches, wide wheels, lower, racier suspension, bright orange paint, buckets, a rev counter (maybe dials from another car) and a 1368 16v Turbo pushing at least 150 brake. And a snappy 6 speed box. With a picture of a whale on the back because I can.
