Not quite the first car I owned (that dubious honor goes to a poo-brown Rover 2000) but the first I took on the road, aged 17. 15 years later it's still with me and still used as a "normal" car - whether that involves snow, mud, or the mean streets of South West London. It didn't miss a beat on a recent work trip to Scotland. The plan is to get some bodywork done on it this year - 36 years outside have started to take their toll. And there are always things like headlining to sort out - one day... Apart from that, long may it live!    |

Looks great in those street shots, with this ULEZ the roads would be less interesting.

My Dad was a big Saab fan, starting with a 99GLE in 1978 progressing through a new 900 turbo every 2-3 years until his last classic 900S lpt in 1992. He kept that until 2007 when he bought a new 9-3 which my Mum still drives (and I fettle). I didn't remember the 90 even existed! From memory they were only produced for a couple of years - front of a 99 and rear of a 900 saloon?

That's right - sold in the UK only in 84-85, elsewhere till 87. I've only seen two others on the road in 15 years!
ULEZ extension is going to be painful. I'm hoping there will be some sort of grandfather rights for existing residents, like there was with the original scheme - otherwise it's sell-a-kidney time...
