	Hi Folks, I started the third door yesterday and reckon without interruptions I could have done it in a day. Here are a few pictures of what I started with. Now this is the bottom of the door with some new metal let in. I just have to join the dots and grind it back. Next my attention turned to the outer skin which was quite rusty. I had to chop 6 inches off the bottom of the skin. Here are a few pictures of the progress including my trusty metal folder. No expense spent! I did clean up the inside of the door and treat it with Hydrate 80 as well as I could manage. This is the finished repair requiring a bit of filler to sweeten it out. The last pictures are the last door to be repaired. It wasn’t intentional to leave the worst door till last but that’s how it worked out. The door frame as you will see is pretty bad, this is probably one of the reasons I couldn’t get it to hang properly. The bottom of the door is rotten along with the skin, anyhow here it is in all its glory. It’s pretty crusty as you can see, anyway I will do a bit at a time and hopefully get some strength back into it. I will start to this tomorrow but don’t know if I will complete it in a day. Not sure what I did wrong but I have some pictures in the wrong order. I am sure you will get the hang of what’s happening if you haven’t fell asleep yet. 	Hi folks, I am on the last door now, as can be seen in previous pictures it was crusty. I have cut out the rust and started to let in repair pieces. As can be seen there is good penetration on the welds. I turned the wire speed back a little on the welder as the welds were very high. They are much better now. I have cleaned up inside the door as well as I can and treated it with Hydrate 80 I had to cut the bottom 6 inches off the skin and have replaced that along with making both corners. I have still to grind this back. Yes, this looks like the veritable patchwork quilt. We have all been there thinking you are back to sound metal then hit it with the welder only fi it to blow into holes. Patches on patches, it’s not pretty but it’s strong! The last picture I have for now is the completed bottom of the door. I will put a skim of filler on here to sweeten it out. My wife said today “ do you get any pleasure out of doing the car because you always look fed up and shout a lot when in the garage”. I am getting fed up now and the shouting and more likely swearing is when things are going as well as I would like. So that’s it for now, hope I haven’t bored everyone to death. As an aside I have been watching the gas bottle gauge going down. It’s firmly in the red and hardly moves when you open the bottle. I will need to get gas next week. The next pictures I put up will be this door ground back, filled, smoothed and primed. Please feel free to comment, it does help with motivation. Norman

	You’re a better man than me Gunga Din… I don’t know about swearing, but I would have given up long ago. We are going to have to get a special Retro Rides award for you when this hits the road.
	My worst worry about dying is my wife selling my stuff for what I told her it cost...

	Hi Norman, i've been touring California for a few weeks, you have made excellent progress in the meantime. Ref your orange peel. Simple answer is thin it a bit more. Longer answer is what size aircap/tip are you using to paint and what air pressure?

	Hi Mark, Re the orange peel , I did mix one batch and picked up the thinners instead of the hardener. I had already poured a fair bit in when I noticed, anyhow I used it anyway and it went on much better. Regarding the paint gun it’s a 2 mm tip and spraying at 30 psi. Thanks as always for you input and advice. Norman

	Hi fogey, I am not replacing that channel with anything that holds the door rubber. It holds water between the seal and the door and rots it out. I will look for an alternative solution although I am not sure what it is yet. Thanks to all who take the time to respond to the thread. Norman

	Great work on the doors, you can get self adhesive D section seals on ebay for relatively little outlay they work a treat.

Thanks as always for you input and advice. Norman Try a bit more pressure, I find more pressure gives me a flatter result with less orange peel. A bit of trial and error is required to find what works best for you.

	Hi Norman, 2mm is quite a big tip, even for epoxy primer. As Homer says above, try 40 or even 50 psi and see the results. I'm guessing your primer mix is 2:1 paint & hardener and normally 10% thinners. Try 20% thinners and see as well. I've often spot primed with a 1mm tip with epoxy and that needs about 20% to spray properly. For seals try these people Seals direct they will send free samples of seals for you to try as well.

	Hi Mark, Yes that’s the mix I use, as per the data sheet, same with the air pressure and tip size. I do also have a 1.8 mm tip I can use, I will need to experiment a bit. I am having a break off the car for a weeks holiday. Thanks to all for the comments and suggestions, Norman
