Regrettably I'm having to sell my old range rover due to buying a house.
It was a good car when I got it but needed a bit of welding to the floors and front inner wings. Chassis was and is perfect. All welding carried out was done to a high standard, i.e any rust was cut out and new zinc plated steel properly seam welded in where required. No plating over rust like you normally see. After this was completed the welds were sealed, arches stonechipped and all cavities waxed. I decided to not restore the outer panels as I wanted the truck to be nice and useable without worrying about it being dinged or scratched. I should probably note that although I have fitted a 2" lift kit and bigger wheels this car has never been off-roaded and the condition underneath reflects this.
After this work the car was treated to a full service and new parts listed below;
All engine fluids and filters
Gearbox oil and filters
Diff oil
Swivel grease
Cotton airfilter element
Stainless exhaust manifolds
Stainless exhaust
Kunifer brake lines
Fuel lines
Fuel filter
Fuel pump
Efi coolant temp sensor
Heated windscreen(not wired in)
Spark plugs
HT leads
Coil
Distributor
Uprated alternator from discovery
Headlight washer jets
Modular steel wheels
BFGoodrich T/A tyres
Front discs
Rebuilt front callipers
2" lift springs
2" lift shock absorbers
polyurethane bump stops
Heavy duty steering bars
Track rod ends
Power steering pump
Retrimmed headlining in alcantara
LED dash and interior lights
Aluminium tailgate
I'm sure there's plenty more smaller bits and bobs as well as work the previous owner had done.
Last MOT it passed with only 2 advisories. One being the fuel cap seal which has now been replaced and the second for the exhaust being a bit loud. I do have a centre silencer to go with it for the new owner if they'd like it a bit quieter.
This car has been up until recently my daily driver and as such it drives very nicely, pulls well and sounds great. I've been feeding the leather over the last couple of years and it is lovely and supple although the passenger seat has a split. All electrics work as they should including all the extras that came with the vogue SE, electric seat switches, puddle lights, heated washer jets, heated electric mirrors, electric windows, central locking, light up indicator stalks, the original vogue se spec radio with extra door speakers etc.
This model being the 3.5 "flapper" Efi is ultra reliable, simple to fix and more economical than the later, bigger engines. I had no end of problems with cars on the later hot-wire injection but this has been spot on. In fact the only engine fault I've had turned out to be a stuck ignition advance. A new distributor sorted that. The 2" lift spring are slightly stiffer than standard range rover springs but they drastically reduce body roll and the car feels a lot more stable on the road than it did before. That said, if you did want to return it to standard, it wouldn't take a lot to fit standard springs and I do have the original 3 spoke wheels. I also have the majority of the bits needed to convert it to LPG which can also be included in the sale.
All in all a much loved mechanically and structurally strong car and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere come rain or shine with a few tasteful upgrades
