Looks fantastic, and you live in an amazing area for enjoying it. I'm rather envious. How do you hear about all these events, btw? I only ever seem to find out about them weeks afterwards!

Thanks!
I mostly find out about events through Instagram and various local car chat groups that I'm in.

I finally got my head out of the clouds and bought coils for this thing. New control arms, tie rods, sway bar ends etc. all along. Now also time to do the engine mounts and stuff. Sold the 16" Teledials I had bought previously. Ordered new wheels already: BBS LM 265 / 286 8.5x18 ET56 10x18 ET50 Hope to be at the Weekender with this car

Watched this the other day. Top stuff - there are subtitles btw. Can't believe they got so much power out of the (somewhat) original motor.

A local tuner has one of those and got a 350bhp out of a stock engine, just bolton mods. Only headgasket was uprated. He was rather impressed with the stock engine.

Ah ok, I don't know too much about these cars. Is the 944 motor totally different?

The 2.0 was even used in the VW LT with a carb.

Thanks for sharing 👍 There are loads of others. The Fiat 500 one and the Alfa GTV6 are epic. I think it might be a TV show in Italy, but they're on youtube luckily.

I strongly recommend you lot look for his interview on YT with ingegnere Sergio Limone, a key character (or maybe the character) in the development of the 037, among many, many other things. Even the English translation is not too bad (not perfect though). Cironi's series on finding a 2.0 carb Alfa 75 in a chicken coop and turning it into a passable competition car is quite nice too.

He was rather impressed with the stock engine. Ah ok, I don't know too much about these cars. Is the 944 motor totally different? Indeed. As giuliettaevo mentioned, it is Porsche's own design. So much so that – simplifying a lot – one could define a 944 engine as half of a 928 one (with the addition of a couple of balance shafts, of course). Back to the 924 Turbo, when Porsche decided to add a turbocharger the 2.0 engine was suitably upgraded, so yes, it has an Audi block etc but not quite the same as the one you may find in an LT (or a "cooking" 924, for that matter). Funny story: the reason the 924 Turbo came to be was that Jürgen Barth and Roland Kussmaul wanted a car to rally/race and generally have fun with on weekends. At least that's what Barth told me during a brief interview many years ago. Notice that at the time the 924 appeared Porsche intended to phase out the 911 so having race and development engineers rallying (or racing) one may not have been well received by Zuffenhausen's top brass. Legend has it that when Barth and Kussmaul took a 924 Turbo to its first outing (the 1979 Monte) their service barges were their mates' 928s and 911s! And because not all the required cars had been built by then it was just a 924 Turbo chassis but still with the non-turbocharged engine.

Tires are on! Sadly I was bit too excited and completely missed that the wheels shipped with shiny metal valves included. Told the tire shop when I brought them over yesterday to fit some metal valves. Come to pick them up today, standard plastic valves, ugh. Oh well, with the caps from the included bbs valves they are tolerable for the time being. Will change them out sometime, however. Front suspension is back together now! Got 45mm of thread left on the coils, but I doubt I'll go any lower. Still, nice to know I could... Anyways, gotta do my brakes this year as well, but for now they'll have to do. Then it was finally time for the big moment - first time on the new wheels! Oh yeah, this is going to be goooood Front definitely needs a spacer, though. First off I don't like how far inset it is and I can't fit the center caps without a spacer as they hit the dust cap! Gonna start on the rear suspension install tomorrow. Let's see how bad that's gonna be...
