1980 Austin metro HLS Metro Plus very early metro possible pre production/prototype car, it has the squared off windscreen rubber found on some pre production cars ( chassis number 100185 this is car number 185) low mileage only 21,000 from new built/owned by Dave Bulman who was an engineer and a technical advisor to BL Motorsport( his name is on the logbook) several features in cars and car conversions magazine in the early 1980's it has been a rally car most of its life, but sat unused since 1989 featuring custom made adjustable coil spring suspension i have bought the car as a rolling shell, no engine the car looks rough and battered but is solid underneath, being parked in a wooden garage with wooden floor for 30 years has saved this car the plan is to recommission and get it back on the road, i have a spare 998cc engine i can use to get it moving , the work will be done to get it back on the road but I'm not restoring it, its been untouched since the 1980's and it would be a shame to loose its history

Wow. I remember reading those articles in CCC when I was a teenager dreaming I'd build myself a road rally car. Never happened but glad to see it has survived. Always liked the Wolfrace slots he had fitted.

does anyone know what the front steel wheels are off? 12 inch - 4 inch pcd they look like metro wheels but have no holes I recon that could point towards it being a prototype, assuming they have always been with the car. I cant think of another car that has those wheels. I bet there are plenty of metro people out there who would get all squidgy over this car, me for one, and I'm not specificly a metro person.

Tomi, Ray said you had something special coming, that's awesome! I await it's resurrection with great excitement. (I hope the time frame is quicker than Phat Rover! )

Nice. My first MG Metro was an iron bumper model so got a lot of love for this. I ended up sticking a Turbo bodykit on it and GTA wheels with a tuned engine. Loved that car.

Hi Tom , I’m sure I’ve got an old magazine from the early 1980s with the metro in, can’t remember what magazine it is but it has a red Fiat Strada on the front. Great find by the way.
