rear suspension stripped for radius arm shaft/bearings rebuild the radius arm had no play when MOT'd but a few miles of driving has worked loose the rusty needle rollers that had stood for 30 years corroding the spring cup mounts the same way as a hydragas unit so a straightforward 5 minute strip down rusty radius arm bearing shaft triple c sunstrip graphics fitted

a few pics from capesthorne hall car show and the mini/metro show at the British motor museum its first big journey a 280 mile round trip it ran great and i'm getting 30 mpg at 60 mph on the motorway engines coming out in winter though, the gearbox has the reverse idler bush fault, the bush works it's way out of the gear and causes a misalignment of the selectors causing stiff gear changes, its getting really difficult to get it in reverse now when hot simple to fix but its a full gearbox strip down to get to the part

this car has 4 recorded previous owners i have copies of 3 previous logbooks, they came with the car in a file but the first registered keeper i have no logbook or info on with it being a prototype/concept car i was confident the first registered keeper would be British leyland but i had nothing in writing i sent off the v888 form to dvla for the previous keepers, you can still use this service but the names and addresses have to be redacted for data protection after 3 months the previous keeper history arrived from dvla and luckily the info i wanted hasn't been blocked out the cars first registered keeper is BL cars Ltd Austin Morris, MG plant Abingdon

engine out, gearbox stripped and rebuilt to fix the reverse idler gear problem, as you can see in the pic the brass bush should be flush with the gear but it had wandered out and doesn't allow the reverse idler gear to return fully home, this binds the gear selector mech up i lived with this problem for a year, the car was still drivable just a really stiff gearchange replaced with the older 1 piece bush sorts the problem, easy fix the 40 year old rear shocks have finally give up, both leaking oil, replaced with good secondhand units (new on the left) cibie oscar spotlights fitted classic car weekly feature 9 DEC 2020 I've had the original tour of mull rally entry plates/stickers reproduced 1981, 82, 83 with correct entry number for this car stuck them under the bonnet

The wheels you have are the same ones we had on an old Allegro. At that time they were available from the empire stores catalogue as well. Not important just a fun fact.

interesting tyre profile on the black and white photo, if you google goodyear G90 you will see what i mean. tyres are a pain for this car, 12 inch rally tyres are no longer made and the only ones i can find available are maxsport 145 70 12 which i have fitted, these are ok but smaller in width and sidewall compared to what it originally ran my best option is to look out for some 155 12 winter tyres when i need a new set

Love the car! thanks Ade at ab garage is a great guy, he didn't need to do much on my car as the jetting was spot on, just dropped down a choke size to improve the low end but he has years of experience and knowledge on weber/dellorto carbs which i why i booked it in with him I'll defiantly be using him again in the future

Found an original set of arches for the metroplus kit at a autojumble I Also have the front spoiler now as they are being reproduced from an original I might fit the kit and lower the suspension and see what it looks like but it won't be permanent The kit is just to keep with the car as part of its history
