Was that who made it? Wood and picket? I've seen some of their work via my land rover persuasion, wow! i believe this is a British Leyland built metroplus, possibly the only one they made at the same time wood and pickett was also making a metroplus with identical stripes and body kit but adding there own interior styling and light grills i can only assume wood and pickett took over the metroplus project when British Leyland scrapped the idea

Also a case of the engine was worth more to you than somebody else ? If he still has the engine worth a mate getting a price ? Suppose on an ex-competition car it makes much less difference anyway. When they go bang they are swapped out ! James the engine was a older mini engine not a A+ unit that was originally with the car from talking to a previous owner he always had trouble with the engine breaking for the price he wants for the engine i wouldn't get my money back on the value of the car if the engine had been original to the car i would have bought it

The engine would probably be worth more if it ended up in a mini, in as much as it would add more money to the mini than it would to the metro. Having said that, the mini would need to have more special tuning stuff on it than just the engine to make the most of the value imo. Authough originality would win if it was in the metro, desirability would win if it was in a mini. I have a genuine special tuning big valve gas flowed head for an E series. Its new and unused, my dad bought it from a chap who worked in the special tuning department and had kept it in bits until my dad bought it. He built it up and completed it and planned t put it on his car but it never happened, but its for an E-series, if it was for an A-series people would be ripping my arm off for it.
I think i actually love your metro and all the history attached to it. Probably well worthy of a magazine feature as it is. I'm sure theres a mag out there that would document its history and follow its rebuild. It must be done justice. Its special.

I remember those articles well. They did another series of modifying a Metro and from what I remember it had a Nitrous Oxide kit fitted. On a different motorsport note the autotest men used to fit Cooper S disc kit so that they could run 10 inch Mini wheels. They looked a bit strange but cool all the same.
