Got a new project......and it’s not a micra 😂!!! Saw this 100e come up for sale on Facebook about 150miles from my house, and was on my way to look at it, when someone bought it before I got there. ....then a week later the buyer commented on the sameFacebook book that he’d bought it........so I bought it of him (for a bit extra)......and he delivered it 😎😎😎 Only got a couple of pics so far Aparantly it’s not the original engine, no idea what size it is, or when it was swapped, looks like it was done long ago though. I know very little about these cars, and keen to learn First things i want doing is a couple of things to get engine right. I want to lower it and get a set of ford fitment wheels. Is there a way of converting the original struts to coilivers, discs and 4x108 pattern ? Anyone got any parts for sale? Have a few pics Engine code if anyone knows what it is

Looks like a 3-bearing Pre-crossflow Kent engine; so could be 997cc, 1198cc or 1340cc. Milton are the people to speak to about suspension / brake upgrades.

Has a four speed box too
As i read it, this was for the 107e and Anglia......so this can’t of been the standard engine.
No way of telling what size it is, is there?
Il take a look at the Milton stuff

Bookmarked this should be nice to follow.
I know of two near me one with a K series and one with a 2.3 Duratec both coupled to a Type 9 5 speed.

Cheers.
About time I had a go with an older car 👍
Good news is, is that the wife likes this car too, so hopefully less of an earful about time and money spent on cars 😎

Nice buy! There are a few rack and pinion kits on the market which use mk1/2 escort crewmembers - that'll open up engine options like zetecs etc.
I think people switch the rear axle to a 105e Anglia axle and use 4 links and all that other fun stuff!
After seeing your other stuff I'd be interested in seeing what you put into this!

whatever you do don't buy an alachi rack and pinion kit and just ring old ford autos for a proper fitting one! thank me later for this advice should you wish to listen! lol, good luck with the project, engines as said either a 997, 1198 or a 1340.

I think prefects had OHV engines, 4 speed gearboxes and later style axles fitted. Might have had the parts it's got taken from one of these.

109E stamped to the engine block - The 109E was the Consul Classic 315 which had the 1340cc engine fitted to it - if the prefix codes are that simple to follow there's your answer

I am pretty sure 109e makes it a classic 1340cc 3 bearing engine.
Incidently I am starting on one of these with a young lad down the road, plan is to fit escort x member rack and coilovers plus a 1600 x flow. Biggest issue on his is someone has already fitted (badly) a pinto tunbel kit.

Nice buy. My nephew had one with a pinto in it and I think Escort front suspension. When ever you see them converted the front wheel offset always looks to small. Somebody must have developed a kit buy now that sorts it right. Looking forward to the updates.

I'll just leave this here. It's Skyline powered and all built by one of my sons pals

If it can be fixed with a hammer, then it must be an electrical fault

I reckon the 100/103é are crying out for a ice revvy lightweight zetec sé 1600 out of a Fiesta Or Puma

Whether you believe you can, or you cannot, you're probably right.

So I guess I could tell what it is by measureing the stoke?

Indeed you could, the 1340 was not a particularly good engine (basically the 997 105e stretched a bit too far)hence why they introduced the 5 bearings for the 1500, if you want to do any tuning and keep it period your best bet would be to try to find a 1500 to start with, externally they are the same, the 1500 also being fitted to the classic / capri.

What you have is a 107E Prefect (4 doors) which came with the pre-crossflow OHV engine. . I found the following here:- 105eoc.com/forums/topic/109e-engine-question/ which should allow you to work out which of the 109E engines you have. If it is the 1340cc it is a bit rubbish with a hollow three bearing crank that was prone to failure if you revved it. If you want an "easy" engine swap find a 1500 pre-crossflow (used in the Mk1 Cortina and some Consul Classics & Consul Capris) - they are still around and Burtons supply pretty much all the re-build stuff for them. As its basically the same engine as is already in it, so should pretty much drop straight in (famous last words). Old Ford Auto Services are the people to go to for suspension upgrades www.oldfordautos.co.uk/phdi/p1.nsf/supppages/oldford?opendocument&part=2 good value for the amount of engineering involved. The use Mk1/2 Escort components so give you the standard Ford stud pattern and endless wheel choices. Add a 105E Anglia back axle (fairly hard to find these days) and you have matching stud pattern all round! If it has a 4 speed gearbox it will be fundamentally the same as the 105E Anglia and Cortina Mk1, into which the 2000E gear set can be built to give close ratios - however you will need to find a donor 2000E box which is getting much harder these days. Its worth doing as it removes the yawning chasm between 2nd and 3rd on the standard box. They are however, pretty bullet proof. Looks like a good basis for a project - good luck and keep us posted!
