News update: Yesterday I was visiting a friend up in Nagano, and told him of your plight. He made a phone call and we've netted you a pretty decent original steel bootlid. In fact, it's actually from a PGC10. No photos yet, as he has to go and collect it. We will have to talk about shipping etc. I'm travelling around a bit for the next week or so but will pass on photos when I get them.... .....................? *shrug* Any news on the bootlid?

.....................? *shrug* Any news on the bootlid? My friend hasn't collected it yet. It's a couple of hours round trip away from him. Start of Japanese 'Golden Week' spring holidays today, so hopefully he'll be able to find the time to get over there and pick it up. I'll get photos when he does. Bear in mind it won't be a cheap thing to ship...

I've received photos of the (PGC10...) trunk lid. I think it's solid and saveable, despite the surface rust on the outside. Now looking at options on shipping from Japan to UK. I have to ship some bulky parts in the near future, so it might be possible to consolidate with them. Stand by.

So before everyone loses interest I'll write a bit more. As with everyone else, I've been busy recently. Back to Vietnam to visit family and have bought an apartment! On to the Hako... Mainly the boring stuff. Removing the wealth of seized bolts with snapped heads which is always a joy. All of which have been replaced with new matching hardened black cap heads which look very flash! I have made most of the new 2" exhaust but ran out of gas on the weekend so couldnt finish it. Hopefully I can get my head around the buggered header. I've been trying to get a replacement and have been pestering will AKA datman but not found one yet. I'm still hopefull. Rear arches have had the lips rolled back, front indicators removed and cleaned. I just need to make the new gaskets and refit along with the rears. On top of all this... once it's MOT'd and registered I may be putting it on the market Reason being is that my heart is still in my Datty 510, I would really like to finish that and my beetle, both of which require funding. Not 100% certain yet, I still have my GT-R and PS13 for sale so if either of them sell then I wont be in such a financial pickle

Shame if you have to sell it but it'll be someone else's gain. I know what you mean about 510's though.
Where's the PS13 advertised ?
*edit* Found it !

If this is going to go up for sale, I'm starting a fund right now haha! I hope you manage to keep going for a bit longer though so my funds can speculate.

Well, after sefveral viewings for the R32 GT-R, a deposit has been taken (woohoo and *cry*) so the rash decisions are on hold, also the PS13 has been swapped for a rather nice Navara which I'll use for a bit before selling. As the weather was AMAZING on monday I decided to go balls deep and attempt some body work, yes, my first ever attempt! The curse word in question is the OSF sill end which is by far the worst part of the body. When undersealing the car I intentionally left these parts untouched as I knew I'd be making my way back to them. Cut away to find this ...Hako parts for sale anyone? Inside wasnt much better so cut some of that out too Made this Made this bit Closed it up Then moved on to this bit at the back end of the sill Had a look inside Not too bad in here I then continued walking around and cutting parts of the NS sill and part of the floor out. Overall I was pretty pleased with my first attempt at bodywork. The main difficulty I have is getting a uniform weld as I am working outside and the elements seem to impact a fair bit.

If that's your first attempt at body work you're a natural! Looks good Bizzarely it's quite enjoyable. I'm even going to order some proper tooling for making better shapes. All I currently have is a generic angle grinder from argos which is about a decade+ old, some ebay 1mm grinding disks, an old club hammer and a rather nice but basic R-Tech welder

*Bodywork repair number 2* Started spotting another repair in... you can see that I poked a few holes on thin metal. Joined the spots together, once over with the flap disk and a blast with aerosol. Not pictured but I've welded a patch into the drivers footwell and started on the N/S sill. Additionally I've removed the inlet/exhaust manifold, drilled out a snapped stud and replaced with with stainless, ordered new gaskets, will need to order new flexi pipes for the cooling system as they were all brittle and snapped. Also have a few surprise bits in the post which will be shown soon. In between all this I've begun sanding down the body and prepping for paint.

Bored yet? Good, because it is boring. However, words cannot express how happy I was to get this bad boy! Can you guess what it is? this is it fitted... Notice anything else in the above picture? How about this? ...or this... Yes I have a bootlid now... hand delivered from LITHUANIA!!!! God bless the EU *cough* Also is KEYS!!! I took one of the locks to a locksmith who disembled it, made a perfect key to suit and put it back together for the mighty sum of £25. Happy days. Finally is the exhaust, still waiting on the front pipe to arrive but the back looks so good I just had to share it with you!

So you've had the possibility of another bootlid on the go, you've received it, fitted it and now uploaded photos on this thread, all without even bothering to let me know? So I've had a couple of people running around on your behalf in Japan, collecting a free steel bootlid and getting ready to ship it to the UK, and you don't even have the decency to tell me you're already sorted? You are a complete and utter waster.
