Bored yet? Good, because it is boring. However, words cannot express how happy I was to get this bad boy! Can you guess what it is? this is it fitted... Yes I have a bootlid now... hand delivered from LITHUANIA!!!! God bless the EU *cough* Hang on a minute. So you've had the possibility of another bootlid on the go, you've received it, fitted it and now uploaded photos on this thread, all without even bothering to let me know? So I've had a couple of people running around on your behalf in Japan, collecting a free steel bootlid and getting ready to ship it to the UK, and you don't even have the decency to tell me you're already sorted? You are a complete and utter waster. I hadn't heard anything more from you. I was offered this on Friday and was delivered on Monday, simple. No elaborate plot against you, I'm just bored of chasing people up. So it's ok for the buyer to be given the runaround? Gimme a break.

Finally is the exhaust, still waiting on the front pipe to arrive but the back looks so good I just had to share it with you! What back box is that? Cherry bomb? Looks nice and compact.[/quote] Yeah, 2" underaxle system with a centrebox and cherrybomb on the rear.

And this after you whining that nobody in Japan would sell you one...? I'd say you got a break, my friend. No wonder people didn't want to deal with you. Waster.

No mention of free, I was under the impression I was paying-which I was happy to be doing so. REGARDLESS OF YOU CALLING ME A TIMEWASTER and whatever else foul mouthed slander you can think of, I will HAPPILY pay for the bootlid when it arrives, if it arrives, then you can kindly retract your comment and the world will continue to be a happy place in which we can all play nicely and enjoy each others cars. Cheers.

No mention of free, I was under the impression I was paying-which I was happy to be doing so. No 'price' was mentioned because - clearly - it was being done to help you out. And you never asked anyway did you? In fact, you never bothered even to send me a PM about it. How much did you think it was going to be then...? So much for trying to help people out.

So much for trying to help people out. He said he'll still have it AND pay for it even knowing it was going to be free; what's the problem? quackshot - I want to ask what the exhaust sounds like as I'm in dire need of one and considering the supplier, but you're missing a bit right?

So much for trying to help people out. He said he'll still have it AND pay for it even knowing it was going to be free; what's the problem? If you actually need to have it explained to you then you probably wouldn't understand, but... First of all he has a car with a rotten bootlid. He says he's tried to get one from Japan (even an FRP/composite copy) but - apparently - no-one in Japan will supply to him (insert cock and bull story about Japanese 'protecting their heritage'). This piques my interest as I know it's not true, I ask around a bit in Japan (telling the story of a C10 sedan in the UK in need of a bootlid) and a good friend helps out. He knows somebody with a spare bootlid who would donate it to the cause, but he's a good couple of hours drive away. It'll have to wait until he can get over there. Photos are provided, and we look into shipping it (not cheap, as it's quite big). I'm shipping some stuff from Japan to UK in the near future, so the bootlid could ride along but we don't know exactly when as my stuff's not finished yet. Doesn't seem to be any particular hurry as the C10 in question needs a lot of welding... Then suddenly I see an update on here and he's miraculously got a bootlid and has already fitted it to his car. Apparently he's "bored of chasing people up", when he hasn't even had the common courtesy to contact me direct once through the whole process. Not even once! My time and effort is one thing, but what about my friends in Japan? One of them donated a decent C10 bootlid gratis, and the other made the effort of a couple of hours drive to collect it. Cockshot over here doesn't actually need it anymore, but can't even be arsed to send a 'hold the bus' message. He's wasted the time and kindness of my friends in Japan, and doesn't even see what the problem is. Apparently you don't either? Says it all...

Or, from a different perspective, he was offered a "too good to turn down" bootlid locally so snapped it up. Then decided to continue with the ongoing, generous offer of your one from Japan and honour the agreement, including paying.
I understand it's not the best way to discover this, but he hasn't actually stitched you or your friends up, so there's really no need to get so upset and start calling names.

Says it all... grow up. look at it from the buyers perspective. if this thread is all the contact youve had with him, its hardly concrete grounds for turning down a super rare panel offered to you in good condition by a willing seller who will deliver/organise delivery, regardless of price, just cos some bloke on a forum says he might be able to organise one. out of the two options of 'heres a lid, don't know if it can be shipped, how much it will cost, or when it can be delivered' or 'heres a lid, its £X delivered you will have it in 3 days', i think i know which i would choose. ive known damo for years, and if theres one thing you can say about him, he aint a waster. if youd given him a price for the lid and shipping, he'd have paid it. but you didnt. If you actually need to have that explained to you then you probably wouldn't understand....

This just seems to be a slight misunderstanding/communication failure. I see the OP has offered to pay for it in any case so let's try to all be friends and keep the name calling to a minimum.
I understand how frustrating it is to have someone do something on your behalf only to be messed around by a third party you were doing a favour for, I've been there, not only is it embarrassing but you feel awful for wasting said friends time, however from what I can gather this really wasn't the case here like I said before it feels more like a misunderstanding.
It's great to be able to help people out it's a dying art these days and us being like minded enthusiasts should promote it and try and help each other as much as possible even if sometimes it doesn't quite go to plan.
I hope you guys can work it out.
P.S Love the Hako!

I'm grown up enough to understand common courtesy. That would have all that was needed here... look at it from the buyers perspective. Again, WHAT "buyer"? The whole thing was being organised to his benefit by the kindness of two of my friends in Japan, and he would only have to be patient and pay for the shipping costs, mitigated by the bootlid riding along with stuff I'm shipping myself. What part of FREE, FREE curse word FREE don't you get? if this thread is all the contact youve had with him, its hardly concrete grounds for turning down a super rare panel offered to you in good condition by a willing seller who will deliver/organise delivery, regardless of price, just cos some bloke on a forum says he might be able to organise one. You've asked me to look at it from the "buyers" (LOL!) perspective, but how about looking at it from mine now? I'm your " some bloke on an internet forum", but I've been organising the sourcing and shipping of a fairly rare piece of sheetmetal FOR " some bloke on an internet forum". If it works at all, it works both ways. I've been a member of the Retro Rides forum for what seems like a long time now, and I though there was still some common purpose and esprit de corps here and - hopefully - amongst owners of 40+ year old Japanese tin, and C10-series Skylines in particular. Clearly I'm somewhat mistaken? I don't begrudge him grabbing an alternate panel at all - good luck to him, we have to get 'em where and when we can - it's the complete obliviousness to the wider situation that grates. He was pretty much getting something handed to him on a plate, and he doesn't even have the class to recognise it, acknowledge it or even mention that he doesn't need it any more. And all this after he was spouting all this 'Japan won't sell me one' nonsense. Japanese enthusiasts were willing to help him with a good panel for free! They have a good expression in Japan which covers it. 空気読めない... ive known damo for years, and if theres one thing you can say about him, he aint a waster. if youd given him a price for the lid and shipping, he'd have paid it. but you didnt. If you actually need to have that explained to you then you probably wouldn't understand.... Great work! You've just turned the whole thing on its head and made it look like I've dropped a big clanger here. OF COURSE! I should have thought about the money! I had a chance to cash in and I dropped the ball. curse word. So much for Pro Bono, eh?

To be honest if I was in the position s20 is in I'd be livid. Offered to find a bootlid after Damien was having issues sourcing one. Not only found one, but got it free from a friend and showed pictures of it on here and the person he got it for says how pleased he is that one has been sourced. Only then to be shown, without contact to say before hand that all his work and pulling in favours from friends in Japan was for nothing. It isn't a polite or a well mannered way to behave. I do agree though it should have been taken to pm sooner, or better yet a phone call, clearly communication broke down across the course of time. I do not however appreciate friends of Damien jumping on s20, I suspect if the shoe was on the other foot the same people would be crying blue murder. I could see in future that s20 would feel less inclined to help people out finding bits for their rarer Nissans after this experience, which would be a shame for the Datsun/Nissan community in the UK. I hope that isn't the case. However it happened I'm also happy to see this moving forward and for another C10 model to be on the road in the UK will be a treat.

Thanks for the support folks.
I sold the gold ssr mesh as I didn't think they suited the car when fitted... or maybe it just didn't fit the look I had in mind.
Want to say thanks to David Lale who donated an exhaust header pipe from his Z car to me. Very much appreciated, let's hope I can fit that this weekend (providing the gaskets I ordered from Amazon last week arrive!)
