3 kids, wife, dog & pram all need to fit. I've currently got a Mk2 Golf GTi WIP & a Mk5 jetta Tdi.
It doesnt need to be economical - as it wont be used for commuting. It needs to be cool in a Retro way.
Suggestions??? lay them on me

I've been looking at this lately, running two retros pretty much daily gets tiring. I've come to the conclusion that this would do: It looks good, has a huge boot, isn't too common, and being a Honda should be bulletproof? Not to mention how awesome it'd look on coilovers.

I was going to say i'm a child of the 70's - but grew up with 80's cars.
I've gone through a list of things that would do the job - just looking for other alternatives:
Rover SD1/800 Citroen XM Volvo 240/740/940/760/960/850/v70 Vw Passat GT Merc C/E class Renault Safrane BMW E30 Touring
Or slightly newer Ford Mondeo Skoda Octavia VW Passat
Ive got about £1500-£2000 to spend..........
Interesting about the Aerodeck Accord...

Yeah, I'm now in the awkward position of not really needing a car but having already convinced myself it's the one to have. Can you imagine what wheels and lows would do to this? Like a Roadmaster, but realistic on our roads

Volvo T5, can be had for peanuts at the moment, although prices have doubled in the past 4 years.

Volvo T5, can be had for peanuts at the moment, although prices have doubled in the past 4 years. I agree with Colin on this one. I've bought two T5's in the last fortnight, a saloon and an estate... Cost me less than £600 for the pair, but both need a little work.... There is a nice T5 estate for sale in the "Not particularly relevant" section on here for about £800, bloody bargain it is too... Wish I'd bought it myself to be honest!!! Big cars, mega performance and not bad on fuel if you don't kick it everywhere... Feel as well put together as a Merc of the same vintage, few common niggles like most cars, but there's a couple of really good forums with all the info you could ever need.... For the budget you've set, you could get a really nice 850 or V70, and do a couple of useful mods like air filter, cat back exhaust etc... Please don't buy one of the curse word Ebay performance chips tho.... Fit a Rica chip with the above mods and you'll see around 290-300bhp, and it'll be a hoot to drive!!!

Alfa 156 Sportwagon. Track down a ti spec or a loaded Veloce 2.4 Mjet diesel and you'll have one very rapid car with loads of space and decent economy. Not very retro, but heh, it's an Alfa so gets its cools that way. The leather interiors are amazing, and look for the dealer Bose hi fi upgrade.
