OK lads, no TNT video for this one. We are going old school for those who prefer a good old fashioned update post.
In the past few weeks followers of our stuff on youtube will know that we are between units. I decided to uproot the whole TnT stuff and move it 30 miles closer to me for one critical reason. Since the lockdown refurb of Noisyboy I have noticed I have a bad habit of just not bothering with it. Its 30 miles away from my house so actually going to get it is a concerted effort, then there is the fact that when I'm done with it its either parking outside my gaff in Glasgow which gives me the theft fear, or a 60 mile round trip to store it and come back home again.
Therefor, we moved. It was a bit sad to walk out of this wee garage. It was low ceilinged, stupidly laid out and a bloody long way from home, but it hosted the body off resto and did me well.
But things change, and as they say.. onwards and upwards. Following a mountain move and fit out which we will come to in a wee segment on youtube, the noisy car now has a new room to be untidy in.
So now that it's moved, and we just passed a bank holiday, did I stay true to my word? You bet I did. Saturday was the first order of business. A year of stoor and brake dust needed addressing...
Up to Miss TnT's to get in the queue for a good scrubbing. After that it was time to do what the car was built for. Top down noise-making in the sun.
It gave me a chance to settle down a bit from the mayhem of building and fixing and more building to actually enjoy the car for a bit.
The whole weekend we drove to places and (responsibly distanced etc) visited people and did the relax thing...
As the sun set it gave me time to reflect. I've seen a lot of people on the social stuff bemoan the past year, and in most cases rightly so. I could share the disgruntlement. Then again, everything is about context isn't it? In 12 months I have taken this from an average condition TVR and lets face it, added 20 years to it. So much work has been done to improve it that probably wouldn't have happened had I not had the hiccups and spare time COVID afforded me. Now after that hibernation I have something properly impressive to show for it. Over the weekend the car drove well. Very well. Frighteningly fast, handling the power competently, looking as good as it did... I think I may finally be closing into that place we all dream of getting to.
The completed project.
I could add more power, curse word more with the performance, mess with the styling but honestly? I think its there. Its exactly what I wanted it to be now, and I feel that any more upsetting of that balance would probably ruin it.
That's not to say in coming months it wont get maintenance, and yes a freshen up of the paint would be nice. But even then, if the paint were to be flawless I'd be coveting it more than I do now, where I can just charge on and not be worried about a stone chip happening.
So yes, the car will appear on camera again when we eventually get to properly play outside again, and I'm sure I'll be tweaking a thing here and there which I will update on, but unless anyone objects, it may be time for this car to live in the showcase section rather than the build one.
What do you think?
