Then through Inveraray, down to Lochgoilhead and up the 816. No breathtaking scenery like Glencoe and the likes, but similarly no tourists either. Nice views and great road. Essentially, quiet. ? Bit of a major detour there, Tommy, did you mean Lochgilphead ? I used to live in a little village (Port Ann) about 5 miles outside Lochgilphead when my dad worked for the Forestry

If your based in fife, as I am, I assume Jimi is, hoodrat superstar, foad etc I have often thought of doin a route that involves the 3 (or 4) bridges, tay, forth, clackmannan or kincardine. Start in a mutual spot, car park at burntisland leisure centre for example, picturesque, an head either to Edinburgh or Dundee (clockwise or anti clockwise). Apart from the A92 every point in this triangle is picturesque.

It's not quite a post lockdown drive, but the RBRR was postponed last year and is planned to go ahead this October. I believe it's only the second time it's not happened since its first running in 1966. Considering I'm meant to be trekking in the Sahara right now and climbing Mount Toubkal in July is now cancelled, it's nice to have this to look forward to. Oh, I almost forgot a glimpse of the route we complete in 48 hours.

I travelled the old Rest and Be Thankful (back in the 50's it was a lot different to the current incarnation) many times in one of these Used to get punted down to my relations down in Glasgow a couple of times a year
