With the impending delivery of the Audi tomorrow afternoon, I will need to do a pressure clean, inspection and maybe some bits of work etc. I have not got ramps anymore, as I gave them away when I moved to the UK, so after 3 days in a IT course at headoffice, I came home and created these. I guess they will do the job just fine for now. Took some of this..... Turned it into this.... Pronto. And made these, should look beter in monochrome.

Nice budget ramps! The only thing I'd do different is chock the wheels on the ground, as steel ramps have the bars spaced for the wheels to fall into and stop the car rolling.
I've always found getting a car on ramps to be a 3 man job - one to drive, and two to put a foot on each ramp.

I jack up the car then push the ramps under the wheels (saves on clutches and swearing) plus you can ramp a non runner that way. I do have a high lift jack tho.

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

Apparently some old metal ramps can colapse, always add more support than you need. obvious maybe but safety first BTW wood ramps look cool, great wood skillorzoro's

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I've got some old-skool homemade metal ones. They've taken everything I've stuck on there - the flat plate to park on at the top is half inch steel. They are rather weighty, though.

I was looking at hi lift jacks the other day, I was thinking of trying to construct a 'four poster' out of them in my yard Any way decided against that as I didn't want squashing and I couldn't divise how I was going to get lateral strength. Whilst we are on this subject has anyone else ever dreamed of having a way of raising their car to over 4ft around their own house? I have been thinking of all kinds of ways including a concealed system in my patio flags!! Any examples that you know of might help, either that or I keep taking my car to my mates garage and bother him

there was a basic review of products in latest practical classics, and then tehres teh things that roll ya car over, or just get a mucky old mattress as endosed by revdickdeluxe and others ;D I have a pit in my garage with an interior dor covering it up Damned if am going down there though with all those creatures! V tempted to build some big rugged ramps. still would not trust my handywork though, safe than sorry i guess some wheels or stand underneath cant hurt can they?

ive been trying to talk my dad into putting a pit in the garage for ages, hes having none of it. ive just got some metal ramps that have been knocking about for ages, then just jack the back end up onto axle stands and theres nearly enough room to do owt.
