Hi guys and girls! Whilst having my usual rummage through the sweet readers rides threads, it became evident rather quickly that a lot of you lovely people put a massive about of blood, sweat and tears in to your beloved projects. My question to you is, what is it about your car that makes it special? For example, my car is a basic, pretty boring nissan micra, yet I absolutely love the poor little thing! People slate it for being a granny mobile yet for me, what makes it special is it's willingness to just fire up and go wherever I want, whenever I want with near on no fuel in it! I abuse it and it still wants to be used daily! Haha Right guys... your turn!

Every now and again I get a response to it like the one Scott/Barret posted on FB yesterday "I hate you, you've made me like a Micra".

"This is my car. There are many like it, but this one is mine" No, seriuosly. If you put a lot of (your) LIFE in a car you grow a relationship to your car like no other. What makes it special? To me; it's the smell, the feel and the way I feel driving it, knowing it by heart, knowing every little bolt on it. And of course there's the fact that I make my cars - the two I will keep (so far) - like I want them. Which of course means that it's unique, and not replaceable. I can't just buy any other like it. This is my car. There's none like it, and this makes it mine.

So many things!
The fact that I always wanted one, and now when I go out to the shed its sitting there waiting for me.
The feeling when you come out of a corner, get on the power and the back end traces around, the diff shuffling the power
The NOISE. Oh god the noise!

I like the fact that most people who see it have never seen one before and haven't a clue what it is. Plus, some of those who have still didn't realise they came in RHD

Both of mine are 'mine' as in not on finance, my daily Subaru Fozzer and my Manta just the little things The fozzer is a bit battered but mechanically brilliant, I make sure of that both have my obligatory Wile E Coyote stuffed figures hanging in the back (been a icon since I was a kid - as is never give up on your dream)

just being old and basic makes my car for me,getting looks and being pointed/laughed at!my manager was laughing at my car the other day, until I pointed at his soulless black vw mpv and told him he wasn't allowed to pass comment as he drove a loser cruiser and had clearly given up on life.

I think the fact that I genuinely can't think of any car to replace mine makes it special to me. No matter how many times it breaks or lets me down, nothing else that I've seen so far seems to just feel right. It's also way cooler than the dull boxes that 90% of my mates drive Also, Montreal's come in RHD?? *gentleman accident in trousers*

I have two which are my pride and joy with the Cortina its a few things like it took me a year and a half to find one and I know every bit of it and I love the pure back to basics driving oh and all the admiring looks I get with the range rover its because ive wanted one since been a child and its everything I expected and more and the fact it will take on all weather conditions and all terrains and just carry on I look outside at it and still cant believe that its mine

I'm yet to meet another in the wild (Brooklands' Austin Morris day doesn't count ). Many, many people have very, very fond memories of these cars and tell me so when they see me. It's the most comfortable thing ever made by human hands and put on wheels. It feels like it was designed for me. I can see us being together for quite some time to come and I'm perfectly okay with this. We've had our ups and downs, but I've never wanted to throw the towel in even when things have occasionally got tough.

It gives me the opportunity to drop the word "wankel" (snigger) into conversations with girls. With impunity. Although the conversations do tend to be quite short ...

For me: a) in the days, the car was bland and ugly, now it's rare and ugly b) I can repair it myself. c) I can change the gearbox, engine, interior anything I want. d) the money you throw at it is peanuts compared to other hobbies (car was free, spares are easy to find). e) the R11 has racing pedigree, even though many do not know it
