OK, lots. I crossed the road when I was on the way to school with mum in about 1987, a black Porsche 944 let me cross - I was well into cars even at that age and It was the best car I had seen in person, loved how it looked. When I was much older and many cars later I bought a black 944 with that vision still in my mind. I was disappointed, the car was not what the beast it looked. I like the way 80s tuners put their touches on cars back then and decided to put my own print on the 944 in an OEM style, to make the car what it should have been. I built this up from a bare shell that was going to be scrapped and curved it to my taste. It had 163hp when new - now about 350, its nice when modern fast cars have a go, thinking the Porsche is too old to be a threat. So, to elaborate, the drive of an 80s hot car is present, slide into the deep Recaro seat, start the burble, select 1st gear (left and back) drop the heavy clutch with some revs - not much happens.. as you reach around 3800rpm power wacks in, pushing the seat into your back and feels like you hitched a rope onto a concorde, then, while correcting the loose rear end with the 80s Momo wheel- you select 2nd gear, some flutter of the turbo, again- power is flat until WACK - 1.5 bar of boost, rear wheels light up and a bit sideways its time for another gear.. The drive is epic. No traction controll, no ABS.. cant think of many cars that would give the same buzz. Well, two.. RUF CTR or an F40 A cool classic with modern bhp and stopping power, handles like a kart and fits in anywhere. ![http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/2498/6bd5.jpg]()  It is a massive pain, he thinks its funny to leak fluid and create minor faults all the time, and I grow hate... but one hard drive and we are good. |

To me, it's knowing that it isnt the same as every boring eco box on the road. Mine is low, uncomfortable, loud, rattly, crashy, un-economical but if it wasn't i wouldn't be happy I sold up my stupid cars at the start of the new year and bought my first ever sensible, brand new car, and although i bought a car that wasn't as common on the roads it lasted 6 months (and that was a struggle) until i bought a ridiculous second car again.  |

I'd absolutely love a passenger ride in that beauty!? Funnily enough, the passenger seats in this car are not very popular. Just driving somewhere at the same speeds as all the other traffic, there's a sobering sense of occasion, and whilst this is good for a keen driver, passengers tend not to like it. They prefer a false sense of security. I suppose its what people are accustomed to these days. |

My car is a 2 door 309 xsi , meant to be only 5. Registered on the road car is an early 1987 car . Great car drives spot on , not even power. Steering, also a 1964 radford mini deville hatchback rare and special little car .also 2 1979 toyota celicas 1600st coupes 1 currently on here for sale as a project, the other 1 is my old mans there both special as there a kind of marmite car ? My daily is a 1989 merc 250d manual w124 , what makes it special its a manual and it runs on veggie . And has a lovely sound to it ! Well there you go these are my special cars .

Our canteen at work is at the end of the corridor, and in the corridor are various official noticeboards.
Anyway, yesterday I was in the corridor checking said noticeboards, and I could hear a conversation in the canteen, where a few guys were talking about cars.
My ears pricked up when I heard '...dark red Granada in the car park?'.
'That's Del's'.
'It's sweet, man. I can't believe it looks that good at that age'.
Various compliments followed, and rather than pipe up, I went back into my office, feeling very contented indeed!

Some great comments here and I can relate to most... I could prattle on all day but my old Celica suits me near perfectly. I love the shape of it from any angle, the smell inside, the way it feels to sit in and drive. The fact that when I feel lazy it cruises along quietly like a modern but when I want a blast it gets past 4K, the variable induction springs into life and it roars and goes like an old skool 16 valve should. Despite the fact it can be left for nearly six months at a time (I live in Finland - car in England...cant bear to part with it) it always starts and everything works. Been on so many journeys and phases in life with it...cant see it not being with me for a long time yet.  Last but not least...it has 80's flip up lights |
