Scratch the AMP gauge from the list so that is now down to 5 or 4 if I drop the volt gauge!
1.Engine Oil temp
2.Engine Oil Pressure
3.Gearbox Oil Temp.......Might need a separate sensor rather than taping into the gearbox
................................harness as it could affect the signal the tcu reads!
4.LPG fuel Level
5.Volt meter?
Wednesday
Well it took a little time getting the horn/airbag off the volvo steering wheel. Just because
it had holes foe the long reach socket to go in it didn't mean the holes lined up with the
bolts!
The steering wheel was goosed so I cut the rubber off to get access to the bolts. Steering
wheel off and the ignition barrel smashed off with a big hammer!
Here is a neon steering column(possibly a mk2) as a referance.
The idea if I can later on, is to use neon shafts with an adapted volvo tubeing.
I had forget my large torque rench, and left it at Newtson's Scrapyard when removing the
steering column. A quick call and sure enough they found it and put it in the office for me to
collect on thursday, which was very kind of them.
Thursday
Back up to Newton's scrapyard, first to collect the 18inch long torque wrench. Then I asked
about the rest of the rear seat and parcail front seat off nefore. Only to be told that the car
had been crushed the day befor, with one perfect passenger seat and half a drivers seat worn
of matereal I could have used!
Taking no chances I set about dismantelling the rear seats of the volvo estae I had getten the
2 front deats from(as same materal) removing the covers then removing the metal stays so the
covers could be carefully rolled up and made easier to carry. A quick stop by to see Mr Newton,
I did make sure that I told him that I didn't need the full seat so had left the metal/alloy frame
on place which I think pleased him. And he only charged me a fiver for the matereal as he said
that I had getten the base on tuesday I wasn't getting charged for the full seat (and I wasn't
going to argue) I made sure I had not forgotten my tools this time!
Apart from the neon base cushion and the volvo rear base and front driver's cushions a lot of what you
see is from today's haul! (The black is the rear arm rest which was in the seat)
Acomparison between two base cushions, mk2 neon beige and volvo black(faded)
The back of the front seat is more pleasing than that off the rear so that idea will be used.
I pealed back only one side of the mk2 neon cushion and it has velcro to hold the materal seam
in place compared to where the same on the volvo cushion would be metal stays and hog ringed
to the base!
I think I could cut into the cushion to give the same style as that of the volvo's and strengthen
by going through the base into a rod I could secure underneath!
I got out the black marker for a rough workout of how things would look/go with the neon cushion.
I don't like the totally cut corner on the volvo rear base cushion and it isn't as extreme on the front
so I will go with the front not the rear!
Well, that is the bad weather side of the car project organised(I hope!)
If the weather stays good I will need to take the good volvo drivers seat apart to remove the air bag,
as I don't want to deploy them when I think I'm wiring up the heated seats which I think these front
ones are!
Warm bum and back on a cold winter, nice!
