Those spot welds along the bottom of your sill are literally the worst I have ever seen. I don't know how you are managing to do them so badly. Are you using a stick welder or something? I mean...are they? Don't seem that bad to me. Especially considering the thickness of metal it's being welded to. Plug welds on thin steel are never pretty.

Finally got back to this. Have assembled suspension on to rebuilt subframe, overhauled/replaced brakes and ready to go back under pick up. Probably should just try to complete this rather than switching between 3 SIMCA projects.

Plug welds on thin steel are never pretty. I beg to differ. Regardless, still nice to see the effort going into keeping a rarity on the road. Keep at it.

Last run out of the year to a local car meet here in the Derbyshire Peak District. Some there hadn't seen it before and the usual question came up... Is it home made/cut down van. Out came the brochure to prove that's how SIMCA (Talbot by the time this one was made) built it. Had some issues with it running sick/no power at top revs. Was just beginning to think the high mileage 1442 engine it's running was crying 'enough' when a check underneath revealed the flexible bits on the main fuel line were leaking. They were pretty recent and supposedly the correct spec. Anyway all replaced and running spot on again.

Still love this thing. There's something about the proportions and styling that just works for me.
The issue with flexible fuel lines not lasting for as long as they should, or sweating fuel out more is why I've taken to going for proper Cohline stuff. Not put it to the long term test, but if they're happy to put their name on it then you'd hope it's better than the cheap stuff at doing its job!
