The 1100 vans and pickups were made for a few years after the 1100 hatchback was dropped. Mine is an '84 from the last few months of production. The 1118cc 50bhp engine goes better than it sounds on paper. It's currently off the road having 'surgery' to what killed off most of its kind...RUST..!!! I've thought of fitting the 1442 engine with a pair of DCNF carbs which was used in some Chrysler Alpines and the MATRA Bagheera The SIMCA 1100's pickup was the base for the MATRA Rancho. Mick

Structure attracts rust as it is built up from umpteen layers of paper thin steel. Have collected the outer panels to do it, just have to get the welder round the inner structure..... If there was an award for rust traps SIMCA would have won gold..!!!

I remember admiring this at one of the old retro shows at Santa pod a few years back and thinking 'Christ what a lash up'! Despite being a factory effort they look like the sort of misguided DIY driveway Stihl saw job that I would laugh at if I saw it on eBay! mega props to you for battling on with it, I would love one of those simca vans thats an 1100 estate with the rear windows panelled in.

I'm regularly asked if it is a home conversion so always carry the brochure for the 1100 light commercial range to prove that's how SIMCA made it (they were also sold as Dodge then Talbot at various times. Went past a group of schoolkids once...one called out 'hey mister you've left half your car behind..!!!'

Mental! How long did they make these for?
And the DCNF conversion sounds cool. Hmmm, wonder if I could get that setup on my Horizon?! Is the manifold the same as any other fitment?

Awesome pickup! I wasn't even properly aware this model existed, only the VF2 van. With regards to the 1442cc engine, most versions of it have the Weber 36 DCNVA, which is a close relative to the DCNF. The standard carb has twin 28mm venturis which should already be good for at least 130 hp.

I remember seeing you post this on here a while ago - cool little pickup. The photos stir memories of when I helped out at a garage years back ; my workmate asked me to give him a hand to drag a 'rotten old van' from the owners orchard to the scrapyard. It was a Simca van, absolutely rotten as a pear and was only 12 years old at the time - scary!

The 1100 pickup was introduced mid 70's a while after the VF2 high top van there was also a VF3 extra high top van but we didn't get those in the UK. The range continued until early '85, a few years after the 1100 hatch had been replaced by the Horizon. As for the twin DCNF carbs, a 'dead' MATRA-SIMCA Bagheera is the most likely source, they used either the 1294 or 1442 engines with 4 speed box from the 1100 or early Alpine & Horizon with the twin carbs fitted. The manifold should bolt straight up to the Horizon head just with longer studs in a couple of places as the twin manifold has the thermostat houing built in. Bagheera, hidden by the fibreglass outside, rust structurally.even worse than the mainstream SIMCAS...they use many of the same parts. AB Car pix .... If you are a member of the SIMCA club, look up my brother Kev Ward in the mag. he may have a set of DCNF's on a manifold...if not pm me for more info.

Would like to find another 1100 pickup to do in the opposite way... really low like the VW caddy crowd do theirs. But we think we've located the only wo in the UK that have escaped the rust... The other is waiting for its rebuild in the hands of another SIMCA Club UK member. Mick

thats a great little pick up! I have a very vague recolection of someone owning one 25 odd years ago in the village I live in. Great to see one still around and would make a brilliant runner and parts chaser.

That's exactly how it was when i bought it. Gave it two tone paint job when I replaced the front wings (look better in this photo than they actually were). At the same time I fitted the 98pcd slot mags from one of my past SIMCA's. It also now has the front grille from a MATRA Rancho. Yellow car in photo is my brother's early model MATRA-SIMCA Bagheera, the 3 seat sportscar that uses a lot of the SIMCA 1100's structure and mechanicals.

At least the Rallye 2 is a runner at present along with the 'FIMCA' and the Honda CRX powered SIMCA 1000 just needs a few 'tweeks' before its next trackday....

Very cool looking car, never knew of the existence of those. And that are some pretty serious rust issues you've got there... Planning on having it back on the roads anytime soon?
