Hi all Sorry its not retro related, but has anyone heard about this? My g/f heard it on Radio 2. Apartently people are breaking into Ford Focus's and stealing the standard radios. They are stealing them becuase of a new urban legend saying that you can take a chip out of the radio, put it in your Sky box and get all the channels for free. WTF!?! Has anyone else heard this today? I've looked on all the news websites but can't find anything.

I read about it on another forum yesterday, but I can't for the life of me remember which one. Not sure if there is any truth in it though.
My girlfriend also heard it on Radio 1 (she thinks).

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Yes. It is happening And the thieves are c0ck knockers as it's not true! It's a myth that came out of the US, where ford radio's can pick up SKY FM. There are NO components in it that allow you to get 8 billion channels of bilge on your telly for free. LOL! *hopes stereo hasn't been piked*

if you take the clutch pedal from a reliant robin - you can see the late night porn channels on channel 69 by pushing it in the back of your tv
i like my bullsh1t legend better than the focus story

so you've got criminals who not only believe Ford have accidentally fitted a sky encryption-decoding chip to a plain ol' FM radio, but they're gonna have the skill0rz to desolder it, open up their sky box, fit it to the right location and not fry the lot. excellent plebs.
