Thanks Metromartin, 620ti is a great sleeper. A bit more, there is also an unused full race T16 head that came from Cosworth with the same size valves as the damaged M16 head, fortunately the valves are ok so they will be fitted to this head, this is only suitable for normally aspirated. I would love to build this up for a Marina TC Coupe as the M and T16 Rover engines owe there block design to the old B series. Huge valves and ports. Valves from the damaged head cleaned up and test fitted.

Thats a nice looking head, I think I would still like to see a naturally aspirated M or T in my MGB at some point in the future... who knows, I get a new idea for an engine swap every couple of days haha I do like the look of your 820 also

Thanks, engine should bolt straight to your gearbox/backplate, use a land Rover inlet, M16 ancillaries, probably a fairly simple swap, or even the turbo version might go in there. There must be a few already done.
Around the same time Rover were looking at entering the BTCC the factory Roversport dept built some tuned normally aspirated 200's, these were standard looking road cars used to test the engines durability, making almost 200hp. I think 160 - 170 hp would be quite easy to get from a well built T series.

Cheers SteveCRX Nearly there with the wooden caliper carriers, had to fit metal inserts for accurate position of the carrier mounting bolt holes and a bit of filler to tidy up the edges to be rubbed down.

Bit more on the spare engine. The challenge now is to convert it from normally aspirated to turbo, biggest difference is the piston design. Piston on the left is the Cosworth 13.5 to 1 compression normally aspirated, on the right is the standard Rover turbo 8.5 to 1 comp piston, it needs an 8 to 1 piston for the new set up. Also got a dry sump for it but probably wont need to use this.

Someone else thinking outside the box
Hope the new radial calipers are worth all the trouble.
What size discs are you using now?

There's a bloke building up an M16 for installation in his Marina Coupe at the moment. Would love to see something like this engine in a coupe but for the sake of the suspension, I think a K series would be a better bet. Think your car is great, you've gathered some fantastic parts together for it.

sierra1off The new discs are 323mm, about 40mm over standard diameter but much thicker, if I had known how close the caliper would sit to the hub I could have gone to 350mm but it would be a thinner disc and different bells and calipers, I didnt know this till the bells were machined and test fitted by which time I was committed to this set up, I hope they are worth it to.
cheers Forde
155ringman is there a link to the Marina or any more info? he might be able to use Sherpa running gear.
cheers Jim

Got the drawings back from the scan of the wooden model, I thought I had trimmed it down quite a lot from the prototype but there was still plenty of unnecessary metal to be trimmed. There are a couple more tweaks here and there still to be done then they can be made in metal and anodized in champagne colour

Great car with a proper history, awesome to see it being used on the track and strip. Never thought I'd see an 800 with a cage good to see it's evolving!

Those mounts look fantastic. Are the rods one off? James Cheers, the rods I believe are the same dimensions as Rover V8 and Metro 6R4, fortunately there are some spares. Cheers Robinxr4i. I should have the brake pipes next week, so fitting new ball joints and coat of paint for the hubs just now, but you know how it is, while it is apart I,m looking at making spacers for the top arms so it can be lowered a bit more and keep the geometry near to standard.

Its slowly coming together so time for more pics. New ball joints and a tin of paint Caliper bracket fitted Close but good enough clearance with bracket bolts and disc bolts Caliper fitted, much to my relief everything aligns nicely, spotted the cracked driveshaft gaiter so thats another job. Pads aligned on disc Thats the nearside pretty much how it will be, just waiting for the pipes. So time to clean the garage floor.
