Hi. This is a build thread for my Jaguar xj6 (Jacqueline)
I'm from Denmark. I live in Copenhagen and I use the car regularly. (Edit moved to Ærø a small Island In the Sydfynske Øhav)
The plan with the car is to create a Retro/Race car that can be used every day or as a track day car. (The Nuburgring is not to far away) :-) She is patinated/ugly..
I'm not going to be painting her in the near future! I'd rather spend money on GO instead of SHOW at the time being. I have owned the car for 1 year now.
This is what I have done so far:
Engine: Not much, But I have a Weber manifold and a complete emerald ecu kit with jenvay throttle bodies for her. Its on the to do list :-) (cant wait)
Exhaust: Complete AJ6 engineering stainless exhaust system (very god) Sounds like a 525 BMW
Suspension: Eibach springs, Gas adjustable dampers, Poly, Harvey Bailey stabilizer kit.
Full 6 point Safety Device roll cage. Moto Lita Steering wheel. Going to Germany for seats soon :-)
This is the first pictures of her:
Time for a little update ;-)
Spend most of yesterday in my workshop fitting a new rear stabilizer! It's from Harvey Bailey. I bought it from Ray at Classicspares. If any of you are messing with old Jag's then he is a good guy to know! It's a nice piece of kit an it has transformed the handling! Much better now! More stable and predictable I love it! I apologies for the bad quality of the pictures! Mobil phone in neon lights. Bad combo!
My car did not have a rear stabilizer so I got the complete XJ6 kit. With all the brackets and other stuff that you need! Its not to bad fitting it.
Here you can see the new bracket that is mounted on the rear suspension (I don't know that parts name in English) (sorry about the picture)
The arm running underneath the car! I had to take of the drive shaft and the middle part of the exhaust to get it in.
If its not to cold, then I'll be installing the front stabilizer tomorrow :-) Working all day on a cold concrete Flor is not recommendable..
Stabilizer: Next instalment in the saga...
Ups I did I again... Went to the garage/shed/whatever.. -7c :-( Turned on the 9kw heater and went to work.
After fitting my rear stabilizer the other day, I wanted to fit the front one! A thicker stiffer item (My car is a female so she is exited about that ;-)
The old one was 22mm the new HB 26mm According to my Bible (Haynes) You should be able to remove it without lovering the thingy that holds the engine and steering rack.. (I'll remember what's it called eventually)
Old stabilizer with shot rubber bushes
It can be done... But (duuut duuuut duuuuut)
The new and the old one together
Getting the new one in place was a night mare! I had to lower the (thingy) And dismantle a lot more then what Haynes mentioned. It's because the new one is so much stiffer. Finally I made it :-) WHAT a difference! Love the way she is handling now..
Having a bit more time to fool around in, I decided to make a Cross bar for the strut tops.. The one that should be there was missing when I bough the car.
This is a trial just to see if it works! If it does, then I'll spend some time making it look nice. I have Lot's of plans for detailing the engine room. But not until I start fitting the Throttle bodies and the ecu!
Fitting it all up.
Finally I found out there is a leak in my radiator :-( Must look into that in the weekend.. such joy..
The end: For today anyway --->
