I'm sure this isn't new, especially to people living in Coventry..
I was looking at google maps of Coventry and noticed that the street names of what was the Canley factory are,
Dolomite Ave Herald Ave Spitfire Close Toledo Close Renown Ave Vanguard Ave.
You can't live there it's all industrial, surprising that the planners had that much thought.
I went to Lanchester Polytechnic (Coventry Poly', now Coventry Uni'). When I was there it was still a plant and I remember seeing TR7 convertible shells going from Swindon (Pressed Steel, now BMW Mini) to Coventry.
p.s. Does the Jules Verne pub still exist?

Don't remember the Jules Verne, but there was a good pub in Old Spon St during my time at Cov uni ('98 to '02) - can't remember what it was called, but it had decent beer! That huge nightclub complex (Ikon??) opening up the road from there might have changed all that though....
One of the newer uni halls of residence on the edge of Hillfields is called Singer Halls, and the site has Gazelle Close & Vogue Close.

I grew up in Herne Bay; there's an area where all the road names are car-themed:

Essex Avenue, Essex would be a brilliant address. (And somewhere cool to park your Essex-powered Capri, of course.)

There's car themed area near the M6 / M42 Junction of Castle Bromwich which I think may have had something to do with Lanchester or Pressed Steel Fisher and a short distance away is Castle Vale which was built on the old Castle Bromwich Airfield. This was one of the Shadow factories that produced Spitfires & Lancasters and now Jaguar XJ, XK & XFs roll out of here Most of the roads in this area have an aviation link maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=castle+vale,+Birmingham&hl=en&ll=52.519211,-1.786544&spn=0.008174,0.022724&sll=52.481892,-1.797466&sspn=0.032722,0.090895&vpsrc=6&hnear=Castle+Vale,+West+Midlands,+United+Kingdom&t=m&z=16

That would be brilliant. "The address? It's Bentley Avenue, just off Brooklands Gardens. Come off the main road onto Lotus Way, you can't miss it."

Did the google car come out of there with all it's hubcaps? (I know it's unfair and that the google cars don't have hubcaps...)

The pub, I guess is the Old Windmill I stayed in Singer Hall as well, and we used to go to the Dolomite Club, who met at the hotel on dolomite way, where the old factory used to be. Not heard of the Jules Verne pub, any idea where it used to be? I used to live opposite the old Humber works on Far Gosford Street- www.historiccoventry.co.uk/nowandthen/far-gos-st.phpIts now a bank. www.historiccoventry.co.uk/nowandthen/humber-wks.phpWhich is just off Sky Blue way, which used to go past the old Coventry City FC stadium, Highfield Road, and they were demolishing it in my second year of Uni.

A relevant image! (not mine) haha I was just about to post that pic, saves me looking for it on my hd! Sadly very little remains of the Canley factory. I was at Coventry uni '04-'08 in the last few weeks I was there I went car factory hunting. Alvis factory is now a Morrisons and Ryton was being pulled down at the time although there were a few more I cant remember. Paul H it was definatly the Windmill one of the few places you could get a decent beer!

One of the newer uni halls of residence on the edge of Hillfields is called Singer Halls, and the site has Gazelle Close & Vogue Close. I lived at Singer Hall in my first year at Uni in 2001, the road names were the best bit about it... There are some great named roads in Lincoln, not sure they have any bearing on local manufacturing tho..

There's a bit of Hythe (Hants) where all the road names begin with C, amongst them there's a few car names such as Cosworth, Cavalier, Challenger and Corsair.

Where the original Talbot factory used to be in North Kensington there are Hillman, Humber and Rootes Drives and Sunbeam Crescent. Strangely none named after Talbot though!
