my V8 Victor. Started out with the 1599cc slant 4 and ended up with the Chevy 350, TH350 and a bunch of goodies too. funking quick. Absolututely insane car to drive. And a total sleeper. I was sick in the head the day I let that one go. my Ventora, much as I am hating it at the moment, we had some great times and I have some great memories of places I have been and people I knew back then. My Buick. first yank I had, best one in a lot of ways. My Rover p5B. Just a gorgeous car. Boot was half full of subs and amps and stuff

Definitely this one. Aside from two stone chips, exactly as it rolled out of the factory in 1978. Fantastic.

I've had 3 cars that were really special to me - my Cinq. Sporting, because it was my first car and such fun to drive after it had been slammed to the deck.
My 33 16v, my first fast car. A proper, old-school hot hatch. The 16v 'boxer' sounded awesome.
Finally, my Fiat 124 Spider. It was rusty, the roof leaked, but it was just so cool in the summer with the roof down.

My Estelle. Bertha the bouncing Czech. Cost me £90. I reckon I probably spent about £400 in welding, buggered up the already buggered up paint further by brush painting with a very odd shade of coach enamel, lowered the front, fitted a Weber, electric fuel pump and K&N plus sports exhaust and gaz shocks all round. Cheap goodmans "pod" speakers went into the back shelf. Probably all in, with getting the brakes serviced, then replacing the starter motor, then paying the scrappy for some Celica front seats and the Mountney steering wheel and the interior alloy dressup bits, it was still a slowish car, but handled like a peach but was as rotten as a pear underneath. I know it was beyond me to paying to get it welded and I never learnt to weld or had ramps or a pit to get under it. Shame really because while I had put so much effort into it, and the guy who bought it came up from Oxford for it, I never heard about it again, and maybe it had been scrapped. Which is a Shame. If G67BLV is round your neck of the woods and is a beige Skoda 120L let me know through the forum. Cheers. A manky old shed but I loved her. Especially when I had to change a drivers door on New Years day because we had to go to Alison's Mums for lunch, all dressed up, and as I opened it, the hinge decided to snap in half. I had one anyway but that isn't the point. Got me some grief that did. Crappy photo, but the blinding matching job I did of the interior. Matching shiney pedals and gearknob, Celica seats and Mountney wheel and Richbrook tax disc.

This The car that showed me that minis wern't eveything when it came to handling. Its loud, uncomfortable and leaks when it rains but every trip to work is an occasion. Retro wise I really loved this Its still on e-bay and if I had space i'd have it back like a shot

My old 16V for sure. Yeah it was a white 5 door but it was in fantastic condition, handling was amazing and it was pretty quick. Paid too much for it, sold it for too little but I could forgive it anything - wish I still had it.

I was very fond of my white mk5 Cortina 1.6L estate and also of my present 2.0 Ghia salloon. Should be great when it hits the road again with it's 2.9 cosworth lump. I don't like my Escort as it's the wrong car and there are so many great cars I need to start owning that I feel it's holding me back. Time to finish and flog! Would love some of the cars already mentioned.

Top of the list is this, my beloved 160J SSS owned from 1994-96 and did 48,000 miles in it including a trip to Holland/Belgium/Germany. And this, of course. Just got some work done to it and it's booked in for an MoT, so at last I can start using it again after not being able to afford to get it on the road all summer. Finally this one, amazing little thing. But for being the best all-rounder, it's got to be the 160J.

One of these................. 85 bhp and sod all weight would keep up with a 205 1.6 GTi whenever it was asked to. bought it at 6 months old and did 40K in it in 2 years I never looked anything other than mint I reckon I spent as much on cleaning equipment and polish as I did on petrol. The "ex" took it with her as part of my divorce settlement and I cried when it left my care. I wasn't that fussed about her leaving She kept it another two years and it looked like a total shed by then!!!! I think it's been scrapped now

Each of the cars I've owned have been pretty good in their own special way. Best ever?
A tie between the 850cc mini van and the 1500cc Golf Mk1.
I've had a lot of fun in Heralds over the years but somehow no Herald is as "together" as those two were.

My favourite usable car was my BMW M3. It was a 1997 Evo model. It was fast, powerful, looked great and was comfy but I had to sell it when the DVLA invited me to take a break from driving (for speeding, ironically in a customers Jaguar. The customer knew though, he was in the passenger seat, clenching!) But if I could have any one of the many cars I have owned back it would be my green Mini. It was a 1989 Mayfair. It was my second car and I had to take a loan out to buy it. Once I had blown the head gasket and snapped the tie bar bolt into the head I replaced the engine with a 2nd hand 1293 MED engine which was great! Had a 310 duration cam which was great for chucking fire out the exhaust! But (as is often the case) I blew it up too! So it sat at my parents, rusting away for 3 years. My then girlfriend offered me the cash to rebuild it or buy one of the last real Minis (The Cooper with silver roof and big arches) So I rebuilt it with a snorting big 1380, vicious cam and big ol' carb! Every week for a year I would add to it. Spax suspension, 4.1 diff, quick rack steering rack, red leather interior were the more notable extras. However, I took it back off the road to fix the bodywork and respray it. Whilst it was in bits I received silly offers for the engine and the girlfriend wanted to learn to drive (in something less vicious) so I broke it up. I still cringe typing that! I have built other Minis and go faster projects since but none are as enjoyable as that Mini! I never actually drove it, I drove with it! Ha ha! V8mike! I know what you mean about the Mazda. Thats an amazingly smooth engine!

I've only owned one other car that has had an MOT (the king of rat look Moggy Minor vans), so it's rather tricky to choose which one is the best, as they all appeal to me in different ways.
However, if I had to choose only one, it would be the Amazon, even though (when it's working) the Sprite is an absolute hoot to drive

Definitely my Sud, best car I've owned as far as the driving experience goes, even through the curse word it's put me through at various stages in my ownership. Nothing like thrashing the pants off some modern or exotic stuff through the twisties in it as well! Still get a silly grin on my mug whenever I go for a good thrash in the ol' girl.

I'd say the best car I ever owned was the one I own at the moment- my M3. It's just pretty much been a good luck charm despite the odd moments of frustration and big bucks outlays every now and then. If I hadn't had the M3 I wouldn't have met Will at PPC when I took it down to their offices for a photoshoot for a buyers guide, I wouldn't have been able to wangle writing an article for PPC, I wouldn't have then been able to go to Total BMW and pretend I was proper writer and then get regular work. This then led to me getting to drive quite a few exotic cars that I wouldn't have been able to otherwise for other articles which is a great thing to get paid to do!! Oh, and I wouldn't have been able to hang out with Tiff Neddell for a few days whilst we were doing the shooting for Fifth Gear. But the best thing about my M3 is even after driving supercars when I get back in it I still feel the same buzz the first time I drove it and don't feel short changed by its performance and handling even after stepping straight from a Ferrari or a Lambo. Well, perhaps a little disappointed by the straight line speed

Had a couple. An 80 Tercel. Ran almost forever, really easy to work on, took me everywhere 81 Corolla Liftback. One of the most comfortable cars I've ever owned.Took off like a scalded cat. Hit downhill hairpin turns at 130k and never left its own lane. Ooodles of fun ;D

I owned a 1984 1100cc Polo. Bought it for £200 and spent a total of £200 on it over 5 years. It took me all over the Uk and to the Alps and back.
Value for money wise I have never owned anything that has been so useful for so little money.
I sold it 2 years ago for £50 and its still going strong.

best car in whose eyes? hope its my own...
between 2: the first estelle i had and have, being modified in every way imaginable, the most expensive project ever but I love it, although it gives me nothing but grief and I'm never happy with it
my favorit estate which until i wrecked it toured me thousands of miles all over the country and through yours too, cavernous rear, comfy, quick, fast enough to blow off some mid-range machinery, lots of memories, numerous accidents that left it no worse for wear whilst everything around it crumpled, virtually cost free, fantastic towing wagon, bright green... love that car

My favourite car I have owned was my D-reg XR4i, radiant red, lowered 60mm, 15" saff lattice alloys. I was so good and dispite that fact I was 21 when I brought it the insurance was only £650 tpft! Sold it because is was too thirsty, all my money went on fuel. So I could not get the minor problems sorted. Sold it to a mate who destroyed the diff! Then some child born out of wedlock crashed in to it he lost interest, flogged it to a mate of his who sold it within two weeks of owning it to some guy in Manchenster who came down to Torquay to pick it up, so I guess he is an enthuiast (maybe one day me and her will cross paths again) Will post a pic I think...... .....there we go thats better!
