I go through a lot of car, had about 150 since i passed my test - thats not a boast because about 120 of them were rubbish. But more recently i have had some nice stuff. But despite spending thousands on cars and having flashy, rare or powerful cars i still only miss one car. This is it. My ratty Minor, satin black, banded steels, on bump stops, red tint, pinstriped boot (by von me!) and straight through exhaust. Car cost me pennies but i had more fun in this than any other car i've owned. Best memory was when i went to a trade show in London in it (i own a sign company) all the other blokes got out of there posey Mercs and BMW's and i parked right in the middle - no one said anything but i got some very weird looks. Apparently businessmen cant have fun! Any of you had cars like that? Just bring a smile to your face thinking about it?

Some (wrong) fond memories of my sh@t-look Micra. come to think of it theyve all been ratty or controversial, Fun but usually cos i was P1ss poor or 'working on a better project'! So really although i have not driven it yet its gotta be my V8 Sierra. best one thats looked after me has to be my Sapph - sad but true.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I miss my XR4x4 dearly, I haven't owned that many cars so it wouldn't suprise me if people found that odd. It was just great owning something that was a sleeper but actually quite fast, plus with the 4wd and the suspension mods handled very well. I put a dumpvalve on it which was fun and a straight through 4" exhaust system that gave a throaty burble. It put a smile on my face because it was so capable in most situations, comfy and torquey enough to drive around town in, powerful enough for straight line encounters, nible enough on the bends and great in snow or a wet field.

My first car, the mk3 Escort, I loved driving for the first 3 years. When it got a bit tired I slung it down the side of the house and had alsorts of fun cars in between: Rover P6 2000TC, brilliant car! Marina 1300 coupe, also brilliant! BMW 316i, pretty nice! And some other cars varying in credibilty. But non of them could compare to the old Escort for me, as irrational as it sounds! So after 5 years of lying around it was re commisioned and its my daily driver again..... and its better than I remember! It was a mistake ditching it: Glad its back now though!:

^^^ Mitch did I see your car on Ebay a while ago? Or was it just the wheels that were for sale? Somethings familiar about it!

Best allrounder i'd have to say wasn't retro, but my Mazda 323F V6, uber reliable, reasonably quick, comfy, nice handling, and sounded lovely Most fun was a £40 1991 Mini studio 2, which was rotten and smoked like mad but i tweaked it a bit and used to drive it like a loon around the country backroads. awesome fun

You did, i was selling the wheels. had a pic of the car to show how they looked on the car. Then changed my mind just in case i ever wanted another ratty minor. Lucky really, i'm about to put them on my Traveller.

my best ever car was a 1992 lotus carlton no232 , i used to work for a guy who had one in 1991 at the bargain price of £51,000 from steve thompsons in litchfield and it only took another 14 years until i could afford one,i had a superchip conversion done to allow 1 bar boost making 440 hp which allowed it to pull its massively overdriven 6th gear. its described as the millenium falcon of saloon cars and couldnt agree more, in its day there werent many cars that could change up into top at 150mph!

My 318iS is the best car I have ever owned, and probably the best I will ever own..... Just makes my smile. I love the way it looks, I love the way it drives.... other stuff comes and goes but nothing else gives me that special feeling Best car I ever had for reliablilty, simplicity and economy was a 93 Astra 1.4i HI-TORQ. Bought with a duff rad for £600 I did 30,000 miles in 16 months all at 40mpg ad sold it at a profit. Very dull & slow though.....

the best car ive ever owned, well, there was two of them, are my two austin maxis. just saying thaat makes me think there may be something wrong with me but they've been fun, reliable, practical and so much more. ive owned and driven other cars, i used to work in a honda/rover/chrysler dealership but i can safely say that nothing compares to the simple, no extras fun that a maxi, and i expect most other classics, possess. Ive thrown the maxis round soooo many round abouts that ive finaly got it down to a fine art, and that includes in the wet........ oh the memories

Can't really say much as I've only owned two but the Mira always manages to cheer me up, it's the little things like scaring dogs with the turbo howl and people I don't know asking what it is. It also doesn't cause me bother unlike the Avanzato which is a nob-end sometimes!
