Cheers! hopefully it'll have a good look going when its done. Ok done a small amount, ive finally got the speakers in. Taken me a while cos they bolt through the inner arches, so i had to drill though quite precisely, but they're in now. ![](http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/305002_10150369536893833_713413832_9942629_3236468_n.jpg) Oh, and just because i had the camera out, heres an updated front shot!: ![](http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/314172_10150369536853833_713413832_9942628_7312749_n.jpg)

After I'm done tarting it up and sorting out niggles, and its on the road, i'll probably get some rostyles for it, get jamesp to band them and stick the wood and pickett arches ive got on it.
I'll probably stick a nicer exhaust on it eventually too, ive got a maniflow one that i got for free, but it needs welding up.

All in good time! Got the trim panels finally. They were a right pain in the d1ck to fit, mainly because ive never owned any before so it wasnt obvious which way they went in, took some right wrestling but they're in now, thankfully. ![](http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/314579_10150371299258833_713413832_9958684_1949539_n.jpg) they're a bit wonky in places, mainly cos they have to go round the screen vents, but its not the end of the world. ![](http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/s720x720/185308_10150371299388833_713413832_9958686_1400850_n.jpg) Oh, and our alpackas approved ![](http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/311629_10150371299028833_713413832_9958682_7116176_n.jpg)

Looks great, the colour is perfect for a 70s car. I like the spindly steering wheel too, you get used to seeing so many Minis with a tiny Mountney wheel or similar that it's a refreshing change to see one with a big hoop instead!

Ive got a deep dish astrali wheel, thats pretty cool looking, and i'd planned to stick it in, but the huge spindly wheel was so cool when i used it, i decided against it!
I'm really wanting to do the banded rostyles, only downside with wide wheels is that you have to trim the wings, and that would curse word the paint slightly, so i'd have to blow it in and it wouldnt match brilliantly.
But it might have to happen anyway!

Love this! Are you keeping it seventies looking? I'm planning a 70's slightly modified look for mine ('73 850), standard looking, original vermillion orange, no arches, a slight drop and some 10' slotmags or banded rostyles ;D Anyway, keep up the good work, and be sure to take lots of pictures ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Slots would work fantastically with vermillion!
And yes, keeping it 70s looking. I'd have preferred an original interior, but I'm not complaining cos this ones had a lot spent on it!

Right, things have taken an interesting turn. I decided to take the mini into the drive and hoover it out. But while doing so, remembered i had a rust hole in the driver side inner sill. Started hoovering the rust out of that, and the hole was getting bigger and bigger. Lifted the carpet a bit to get better access and found the underlay soundproofing stuff soaking wet, so i ended up taking all the carpets out, as it was wet in the back too. There was a small hole in the passenger side inner sill too, so i prodded that, started to hoover it out and it got bigger and bigger again, till it was larger than the other one. Drivers side inner sill: ![](http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/s720x720/317342_10150373138688833_713413832_9977104_3963535_n.jpg) Passenger side inner sill: ![](http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/316511_10150373138313833_713413832_9977095_22292_n.jpg) It was sopping wet inside the passenger side one, and i owe these holes to oversills. Because they don't let the moisture out. Just some of the rust that come out, the rest is in the hoover: ![](http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/318747_10150373138893833_713413832_9977108_2563013_n.jpg) The big chunks are what remains of the original sills, i would imagine. Floors are ok, but have surface rust cos of the wet underlay a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/307736_10150373138558833_713413832_9977102_1630080_n.jpg/IMG]Folded all the underlay and carpet up in the back to take it up the shed to hang out to dry and a load of water dribbled down by my feet, Underlay dripping there and running down to the drain holes! ![](http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/311381_10150373139098833_713413832_9977113_1928713_n.jpg) So after setting out to hoover the car and ended up finding two large holes in the sills, looks like some welding has to be done. Its not bad though, my other minis are 10 years younger and have worse inner sills.

Don't you just love it when someone half-asses a job like your over-sills and it ends up creating so much more work for you?...

Ive owned three minis, technically 4, and every single one has had oversills.
Personally they should phase them out and give people no other choice but to fit proper sills. They cost the same amount of money and only take an extra hour collectively to fit.
Ive known of people cutting oversills off and finding about 4 or 5 more oversills underneath, its a waste of time really!
