I'll get more up after our little holiday, but here's one from today, went to the beach, got stuffed in a over flow carpark? Basically an oil rapeseed field! After getting 'beached' many times we ended up here I'll write up about the modded from subframe, spring hangers, and interior additions next week... Till then, I'm off getting a tan top up! wonder if people look at this and think..."theres something different about that"

hi all... I guess an overdue update... man I awful at this! 1st up, interior additions, got some new full length curtains, blinds etc, I recon they set the interior off a treat.. also got the bunks back in, not that I think they get used but their so cool.. changed a few lights inside etc.. and a few more interior shots.. see how the bench seat folds away into a single seat, this also combines with the other side, (their identical) to make the double bed.. since starting this rolling build, I've always wanted a spare wheel on the back door, also a ladder if I can find one?.. anyhow, starting with a spare hub.. I disassembled it, cut it down, had it powder coated and hey presto.. finally fitted the adjustable rear spring hangers.. thats it for now, I'll maybe do another update later with the work carried out on the front subframe assembly (going lower! aha)

another update, with adjustable rear suspension, the plan was to have an everyday ride height (middle setting), camper ride height (highest setting), and show height )lowest setting.. now the front sits on the bump stops already, its a harsh ride, I'd kept the subframe assembly from the camper I brought with the intentions of modifying it to allow proper suspension travel, this mainly done by shortening the bump stops.. this is the standard travel out with the slitting disc I cut around the top of the spring housing.. then cut the bump stop tube from the housing, shortened it by 70mm... rewelded it on to the housing top.. then, true to form, I forgot to take pictures??.. anyhow, I rewelded the housing top back in place, I welded around the outside, dressed the welds back, then back welded from the inside... increased suspension travel.. just needs blasting and painting now.. I've also a set of lower wishbones which I'm modifying to give me back my safe scrub line, those combined with 2 different sets of front springs will give me the ride heights i'm after...

don't be so silly, foil would just blow off! I used proper aluminium tape aha
I've a set of mint rear doors with windows for it, plus a mint side loader door, so its pointless repairing these ones, once all the metal work is finished I'll paint them and fit them

I saw this going through Deddington yesterday morning! Although it sped past me off round a bend so I couldn't get a second look, it was unmistakeable - looks great in the flesh, quite an imposing road presence too

Rust4life.. I travel through deddington on my way to work, and thanks, certainly not missable aha Update time! I'll start with the seats, that, I've not fitted them yet! But, they are almost ready.. With the camper I brought to scavenge for parts came some captains bases, I did have a set of Sierra cosworth front seats, but I sold them on, I scored a set of mondeo full electric leather seats for £40.. First I set about modifying the seat loom, I reduced both looms to a single power cable, each circuit is fused and protected, with fitting the seats to the captains base, I couldn't have a complicated loom.. Now, the seats bolted straight up to the bases, which was nice! But, they sat rather high.. Base hight as you can see So, I needed to reduce the base quite some.. I started stripping the bases down. Check the bearing race haha Then I cut down the box.. Made up some sections of angle and box.. Then I welded them all up, painted, and promptly forgot to take pictures! So here's the base assembled, and hight difference Now, I've a single power cable to feed the seats electrics, and a seat that can spin through 360*... I needed a simple solution to avoid the cable entangling or snagging.. Solution.. The Bases centre bolt, I drilled a hole all the way through, sorted haha the cable passes through the hole, is heavily insulted and fused.. Next up, the seat runners and the bases looked ugly, being slightly higher in a van, I didn't like the look.. So I started making cover plates that I'll cover in fabric Drilled a tapped a few holes Then made up the plates And a bad picture of the finished (ish) item.. I carried out the same on the other base etc.. I've another update to do, mainly rust repairs etc.. Oh, and something a little more interesting power plant wise? Cheers

Thanks for the comments fellas! I'm really bad at updates, I'll try a little harder.. So, chasing the never ending rust repairs.. I attacked the drivers side mid section, I'd already carried out mot spec quick repairs as to keep it legal and useable.. But it was time to get it repaired properly.. I cut out the side, you can see the previous repairs.. Then cut away the inner sill, it wasn't terrible, but I was in there anyway, it was starting to rust.. I then used steel from the roof panel I cut out the make an inner sill.. Cleaned it all up, welded in place, zinc primed, should last till next winter? Now, the outer repair panel was awful, not even close to the same shape, so I used the shrinker at work, but that only altered the shape on the edges, if left, I'd have ended up filling it to a depth of 50mm or more! Re shaped ends.. So the centres were still shallow, best I could do (seeing as once welded in I couldn't get to the back of the panel to beat out) Was, shape up some bars that I could weld in prior to welding the panel in place.. My daughter lending a hand.. Plug welded in place.. And welded in place... I also welded the arches in place! Finally... Once finished, this is how it'll sit.. (He hopes) And, how it sits at the moment... And the attention grabbing rear... Now, the I4 is getting tired, it pulls around all that weight and I'm not forgiving haha.. I've looked into a Saab unit, 2.3 I4, and lots of others... But, I stumbled across a full SVO kit, adaptor plate, mounts, starter, clutch, pretty much everything, I've now a gearbox sourced, plus a loom.... Just need an engine... Can anyone guess the engine I'm looking for? Haha

It would have to be a 2.9 24v as the 2.8 and 2.9 12v aren't much better than the twin cam and definitely no where near the 2.3 saab...

Bang on the button benny, typically, since I've started looking, the prices have increased! Ideally looking for a complete granada cosworth, I'm sure something will turn up soon.. I gave the old dogg a little bit of a clean yesterday, fixed a few niggles, nothing exciting, but I thought I'd grab a few pictures..

Mate. Brilliant work and perseverance. As an owner of a Bedford CF2 for many years I can feel the love. Wish I still had it but life moves.. However - I can give you something. This is a Rocket 3... These things have taken my focus away from 4 wheeled items for the time being. I shall be back...
