Finished?... are they ever! Ha
I guess a little overdue update is needed, I’ll put something together later as I’ll need to scavenge photos from different devices and need to string sentences together that make sense!
Until then, I still own it, it’s developed along nicely although not currently on the road! Mainly due to going a bit wild with rust deletion & further modifications
(And... I’ve a pretty sorted BOA now too, it ain’t in, but I’ve everything needed, it’s just sat waiting)

So, where were we... Rechristened SYD (scrap yard dogg!) It's served me well, plenty of bike trips away, including weekends at the pod (I ride bmx and was lucky enough to ride as part of the display team!) Few holiday breaks, and, a trip through France for my 40th! 3000 mile round trip😎 Didn't miss a beat! And back home Next up.... more mods, lower ride hight..

After searching loads over 3yrs!! bidding on complete cars (winning two! Only to have the owners pull out on the *deal!) I was getting disheartened on actually finding a cosworth motor, then, out the blue, a good friend and I were chatting about SYD, plans etc, he states “cossy V6? My mates got one from an old *ring track car!” Info please bro😎😎 £600 later, I have a BOA, which apparently, and until I verify this with pulling things to bits, has BOB cams, bigger squirters etc (feels a bit like buying a 2.1 burton race pinto at the mo😝) It does have tubular headers, which appear real nice! It came with a pre modified harness and all other related parts, as stated earlier in the thread, I’ve a full transit SVO fitting *fitting kit, (flywheel, mounts, starter, clutch etc) and, the correct MT75😎 I’ve brought a new timing chain (£300😳) and guides, I may possibly buy a boost performance plenum as I hate the standard BOA unit.. I’m taking the motor home this weekend, it’s been at work while I sort a work space at home, I can then strip and examine etc tart up a bit at leisure With all that bit going reasonably to plan, the actual van will be getting a slight revamp! I’ve already had the rear seats trimmed in dark grey swayed’y type stuff! Plus other interior bits! Attention to the exterior with slight body mods (more later on that! And, a wheel change! Teaser shot 😎 These will be banded, PCD changed and painted😎😎😎 Next update with be corrosion based😏

Mate. Brilliant work and perseverance. As an owner of a Bedford CF2 for many years I can feel the love. Wish I still had it but life moves.. However - I can give you something. This is a Rocket 3... These things have taken my focus away from 4 wheeled items for the time being. I shall be back... Lovely machine kilroy Distractions happen! I’ve far too many of them also😝 Here’s one ‘02 Suzuki intruder, top picture is a comparison! It’s lowered, piped, heavily modified fenders (but subtle) Lines cleaned, repainted, seats retrimmed in saddle leather etc etc! Too much work

Last few weeks I’ve been working through the wiring harness a friend gave me, it’s been sat in *storage a long long time, he carried out a BOA to transit way back when it wasn’t common at all, not that it is now! My friend helped out with what he could remember, and I muddled on with the rest.. so Gathering what info I could, I cracked on, I’ve identified pretty much everything now, so it’s now just a case of working out the routing and taping.. I plan to build a trolley, assemble the whole thing and get it running before the install, wether that will actually happen🤷🏻♂️ Aha On a slight side note, Some people run mondeo clocks so you have a rev counter etc, I think I’d like to go with a large dash mounted one? And keep the standard clocks, any recommendations awesome looking, functional cool looking versions? Must as stated be huge and top dash mounted😎 Back to the harness Wiring has a wonderful way of chilling you out, don’t you think? 😏 Along with that I’ve also been plodding along with stripping the motor down, getting ready to clean, paint, and sort the timing chain, I’m really really looking forward to that job, honest😏 I can confirm, that the BOB cams, and larger injectors I was told the motor had, is actually, nonsense, they are in fact standard BOA cams, and standard green BOA squirters!🙄 But, the motor seems to be in great condition (*touches wood so far!) I’m in the market for BOB cams!! Literally checking everyday via eBay etc, if by chance anyone happens across a set, shout me pleases

Very nice progress too! As for BOB cams, I wouldn't worry. Just get the BOA running job on and you won't miss the small gain they would give The Boost Performance inlet should make enough of a change itself

Another evening with a couple of hours spent, loads of parts stripped bagged’n’tagged ready to be soda blasted! This was all part of the course as the amount of parts that required removing to change the timing chain is immense! So each one is going off to be sorted, silver lining an all that.. All That lead me directly to the timing chain, a huge amount of reading later, and It was confirmed that all I read about a certain chain guide/tensioner, was true.. the design fault/poor quality leading to them breaking Options They are available, £300 or so, quality? Unknown.. 2nd hand ain’t an option as it would nag me and the slightest noise would see the end to my finger nails!! Make one.. I could fashion one up, from steel, it would be robust enough, not overly difficult, it’s just time! Get one made.. A friend has offered to draw one up as a CAD program, this is way above my understanding and pay grade, but I could then (apparently) give the program to a machine shop, and have one produced.. Any leads on a fantastic/reliable/friendly machine shop based around oxford - banbury? Please help😎 I actually have an update on the van itself, cutting, welding, making stuffs, I’ll get around to that at some point, truth is I haven’t progressed with that part in 8 months due to other distractions, the engine stuff is current, hence the updates! But I’m planning a big push with the fabrication after this month😎

If I can justify it, by justify, I’m meaning convincing my girl that it’s *needed 😝 Then I’ll go with piper kit.. Love the Granada BTW😎

Thank you very much The timing chain tensioner used to to available from Ford (at least that was where mine came from many years ago now!) If that is niw a dead end, XR4i spares in Essex used to sell either the nylon insert or the complete blade made from a lump of alloy I believe

Very short and brief update as I’m in full winter project mode!! Seem to be making good progress on all the distractions Ha... I last left off with the timing chain tensioner issue, well, I had an hour here and there, so I whittled one up😎.. It’s not the prettiest, but, it’s true straight and mm perfect where it needs to be🤟🏻, the sleeve fits like a glove too so I’ll call that a result, still waiting on the soda blasting for the engine parts, so, I’ll move onto another project for now...
