Right folks,.. I'm picking up the CARS tickets from future tomorrow, I thought it best to pick them as rather than have them posted as we have so many of them!..
I don't know the stand arrangement yet, but we could do with finalising the layout as well as finding a few people able to help get it organised before I arrive.
I'm assuming we're going to have a similar shape to last year, so a long stand that can have cars two deep on it... One thing I want for sure is to have a centre of the stand, with the support bus and any other "social" vehicles + seats and gazebos etc. etc. so we have an actual social area.
We have two Retro Rides banners, so placing them would be cool as well...
Any thoughts?

may i be so bold as to say the banners should be staked into the ground this year? as opposed to lying them on the floor. we'll just need a few bits of 2 x 2 and some thin rope. maybe mrsigma could help sort the stakes? btw, have you sorted out whos sent payment yet?

You think there will be enough room to have just 2 rows? we could have one row on each side of the stand all facing the middle and have all the 'stuff' in the middle.

Don't we have more cars than there were last year? Are they being grouped in any particular order- if so how about pasting a list of everything on here? Also what time will we be putting the cars on the stand?

last year we headed round to the show area about 9ish. had no order either. which i like the idea of. unfortunately we were next to the "retro carpark" which kinda looked like our stand. only we were about 10 times bigger. ;D *please forgive the rather blatant exageration ;D **we were bigger though. ;D ;D ;D

I like the no order thing,... because it is a reflection of the forum, everything rubs shoulders with everything else...
I asked Ian to make sure we're not next to the car park this year!
I just want it a bit neater... and with a social focus where we can gather and discuss stuff,.. such as our car of the show etc. etc.
Banners will be up on display this year... we didn't have anything to prop them up with last year, and I collected them from the rather wonder 104ZS at the show.
Would be nice to make sure we can display a large RR flyer in the front window of each car. Maybe we can go on a printing and scissor frenzy before the show.

Newsflash.... The Official R-R Support Sambasauras Drag Bus is looking doubtful as to it's attendance at CaRS.... The uprated clutch disk decided to melt prior to running at Summer Nationals as it couldn't cope with the power of the engine, and so before the bus can go anywhere, a new flywheel and clutch assembly (of much stronger stock) must be attached.... which isn't as straightforward as it sounds... as the old flywheel was dowelled to the crank.... so the case needs splitting, crank taking away to be re-dowelled to the new flywheel and then balancing etc.. then refitting is reversal of removal.... The flywheel and clutch bits are as we speak winging their merry way over from t'other side of the pond... and should arrive next week... then it's a race against time to get things done... It's looking likely it'll be Mk2 GTI and a tent for us....

Yer think it was too car park looking last year, some focal point, cars pointing in a specfic direction and people walking up and down the middle.

unfortunately we were next to the "retro carpark" which kinda looked like our stand. Yes, that was a problem As much as I think that a parkling plan etc goes against the extremely chilled-out RR ethos, ity might be agood idea to have something organised, even if it's just a case of having all the cars lined up on each side of the aisle in a sweeping arc, so that Joe Public will realise that it is a display

I think the no order thing is good, I just wondered if like the Skuds should be together - though that'd take up a whole row - or if there was anything super unusual that should be a focal point, not that everybodys cars aren't cool, just that..erm... hang on I'm digging here.
No order FTW!
Could someone do a file for an RR banner and post it on here to d/l so everyone can get them done at home? If not I'd be happy to do some at the campsite Saturday night. Also sounds gay but how about name and ride badges so people know who is who and owns what? Just an idea.

Also sounds gay but how about name and ride badges so people know who is who and owns what? Just an idea. i think this was discussed a while back, and was decided to rank about about 9.5 on a scale of 1 to gay. however, the idea of a info sheet for your car was discussed and came up well as well as a score board for the retro rides 1/4mile. Where can I get mini wheel studs next day delivery? try www.minispeed.co.uk, usually pretty quick.
