I had Riken Tyres on my old p38 Range Rover and they worked really well Riken are owned by Michelin and made in Serbia. A lot of the major tyre companies have factories in China, sometimes making stuff under their own name and sometimes under a budget brand name. In general, China can make whatever quality of stuff (whether it's tyres, iphones or Gucci handbags) you are willing to pay for.

Antarctica LHD ? Really ... RHD . Not enough roundabouts for it to be a problem though.

Just seen this on BBC Website Due to the ‘Highly fragmented RHD market ‘ I guess they missed the part where there are more people in rhd than lhd cars?☹️ Regardless of numbers, Japanese manufacturers don't seem to have a problem with it. More like a lame excuse for poor management. Toranas FTW

All you need to know here www.ricola.co.uk/It's not easy to fit a cooling system in a Beetle that's both tidy and efficient. It's a lot easier in a bus, especially a T25.

Sadly I suspect we will never see this, the cost and complexitites of engineering and homologating any vehicle nowdays are enourmous, even a battery vehicle has water cooled ( and heated) batteries inverters and motors, fully sheilded high voltage systems and complex charging systems which have to handle enourmous power (up to 150KW), plus they still have to have abs, stability systems and meet the crash requirements as dyson found out its not easy or cheap. I love the look of this but it's never going to make series production for all the reasons above. I know of plenty of EV projects, from even established manufacturers, that have been cancelled due to underestimating the expense of engineering an electric powertrain.

If an inertia has been replaced with a pre-engaged the the teeth could be clashing and not engaging and not allowing the solenoid to make an electrical connection. Colin Check this. If it's a pre-engaged starter, the problem may be that the pinion can't travel far enough. So it may work perfectly on the bench, but won't when it's fitted.

Those do look properly shonky though. You'd be risking getting pulled in any country. You'd get pulled in the UK if our police could be bothered.
At least the police in Germany take cars they consider dodgy off the road. In France and Switzerland they're more interested in extracting cash from drivers then letting them carry on their way.

I need a couple of old 10" Mini tyres to rescue an abandoned trailer. It doesn't matter if they're bald, just as long as they'll hold air. The ones currently on the trailer have been sat for decades and disintegrated. It used to be easy to find Mini tyres for peanuts but breakers and Ebay have turned up nothing local. Anywhere near Warwick / Solihull would be ideal.

If you want to stay near to Coventry, roughly the triangle between Warwick, Solihull and Alcester is a good area with countless country pubs with food. Stratford can be a bit touristy and overpriced. Closer to Prescott, there are several quaint towns along the A429 - Moreton, Stow-on-the-wold, Shipston. I can offer spannering facilities in Warwick if you need a hand.

One of those things I went for years without knowing I needed, and now wonder how I ever managed, is a loooong 1/2" breaker bar. Get a quality one so those times you need to use it, you can really use it.

Personally unless you do a 30+ min 70mph run every 2 weeks avoid modern diesels with dpf's. Volvo has one, golf doesn't, I don't do miles to justify a diesel never mind 2 so the dpf does my head in. For an 8 mile commute I'd recommend against a diesel as well, but for the reason that she'll spend half the year wishing that the heater worked better. My money would be on a small Toyota or Kia for minimum running cost and fuss.

Lovely workmanship, especially the chop around the rear window, but IMHO without the front bumper and grills it looks like they haven't finished putting it back together yet. Have they really converted from RHD to LHD?

So in a few weeks when we get 2 inches of snow and the m25 / m11 grind to a holt and your stuck over night on the motorway with your petrol engine running to keep warm your car runs out of petrol the man in the car next to you has a can and with good will lets you top up when the road clears and you make it to a petrol station and fill up continue on your journey home 12 hours late...or your in your electric car I suppose it has an electric heater to keep warm but when the batteries go flat you cant borrow from a kindly car next to you, you cant get your own can out the boot and walk to the garage you will have to wait to be towed and when you do get recovered you then have to sit there still cold for another 8 (?)hours to charge up also you cant listen to the radio for travel / weather updates as that reduces your battery even quicker … started going on a bit now I know but what if when you get to the charging point there are 3 cars in front its bad enough at the fuel pumps when you have to wait 7 minutes imagine waiting for 3 electric cars to charge before its your go.. Just don't get me started on them self driving or driverless cars what is the point why do we need them get a train or a bus or a taxi why do I want to have to be the responsible adult for a car i'm not driving but have to be aware at all times in case I have to take control at some point you cant sleep or be drunk you may as well drive yourself. I know people much cleverer than me (not hard) are working on these and many more complex problems but when they sort them out they must be ready to explain the reason I need one very slowly as it may take some time to sink in. Yeah...right. I could end up writing a whole essay countering this sort of clap-trap but it's not worth the effort. I think you need to drive an EV before making everyone's mind up for them.

Really? Dangerous and stupid? Well, possibly.....If you've removed the BMS, protective casing and thermal management system from the battery packs and shoved them in a plywood clown car. Here, have a pic of a dangerous and stupid car for your trouble
