'Thrashable' slow cars you can rev the tits off and throw about are the way forwards. I drive a lot of very expensive/fast cars in my job. None are as much FUN to drive as the battered Panda I used to own. And it cost me 90 quid - it cost that to fill the tank on my 'work' car

I've got a couple you can have. PM me and I'll bung them in the post.
In fact I've got two types. One type is like the bottom left in the pic. The other is like the second from the right on the top row. Whichever you prefer.

Just about any army surplus place will have it. Look out for 'IRR Nato drab'. But any auto paint supplier will be able to mix up matt paint in whatever type or colour you want. Some can do aerosols too.

I got a Parweld XR914H helmet from Ebay for 44 quid delivered. Bargain ;D All the reviews on the Mig-welding forum reckoned this was the best value helmet for DIY use but, as mentioned, it looks exactly the same as a Sealey one and several others I saw just with different stickers. It's been fantastic so far - well worth the money. Beware of the cheap Chinese auto-darkening helmets that are about on Ebay. They are cheap for a reason.

You mean you want extra lights or just to replace the sealed beams with halogens? If it's the latter just get some Landrover Defender or late Mini lights. They're easy to get, they're dirt cheap and they are a straight swap. In fact I'd be amazed if every MG specialist didn't already sell them.

The Clee Hills trial is on this Sunday.
I'll be marshaling on the Meadowley section.

This is on Ebay (25 quid at the moment) and only a few miles from me. Huge inside, just begging for a camping interior. It's a metre longer than normal H-vans.

This thread reminded me of a site I stumbled across when I was searching for info on DIY gas turbines. Toasty www.nyethermodynamics.com/nt6/Plenty of other insanely dangerous projects on there too.

That's just a narrow band sensor. You can make one yourself using a scrap oxygen sensor and a little LCD display you can buy from Maplins for less than a tenner. But it will only tell you if there is or isn't excess oxygen in the exhaust gas - that is, if the lambda is higher or lower than 1. A wide band sensor will tell you how exactly how much higher or lower than 1 it is.

Found them. YOu need to remove the waterpump drive and then the gear that drives the pump. It's a press fit on the rotor shaft. Then remove the rotor drive gear housing and the rotors come out from that end with the gears and housing still attatched. PM me for photos.

I have stripped plenty of these but it was a long time ago. I used to work on prototype Pentagon engines at Rover (RIP). I even did a step-by-step guide with photos for someone. I'll see if I can find a copy of it.

What about Classic Trails. Four wheel drive and off-raod tyres are prohibited but otherwise you can use just about anything with any level of mods. It's effectively old fashioned rallying with plenty of retro content. Entry fees are about 20 or 30 quid for a whole day event, you need minimal safety equipment, and you can even do it in a bog standard hatchback that you pick up for peanuts with a week's MOT - lots of people do. Welly's are essential though.

I drive a DB9, a Nissan PAO or a ratty off-raod Beetle - you couldn't get more contrasting cars - but don't find it makes a difference. I used to get wound up by other people's driving but now I just go with the flow (it helps that most of my cars are bog slow anyway). Why care if some anonymous blandmobile pushes in a queue ahead of me? I'm sure it has more to do with your own attitude. I used to work with a lad who drove the same car as me (BMW Mini), partly covering the same route and at the same time of day. I lost count of the number of times he'd come in in the morning ranting about some run-in he'd had and somone cut him up or tried to run him into a hedge or something. Somehow it never happened to me

I don't know about a Piazza specifically but if it's a fairly early engine management system (before ABS became more or less standard on everything) then it is probably using the speedo input as a condition for overrun-fuel-cutoff. So it only works above a certain road speed. If that's the case, at worst you'll just lose a miniscule bit of fuel economy.

Does that mean your keeping it then? It's still for sale. I've had plenty of interest but noone wants to spend any money at the moment I had a closer look at the rear springs and reckoned it was such an easy job I might as well try it. Took all of 20 minutes ;D

I had a VW bus with a blank speedo. There were dots at 30mph and 70 mph and ****! at 90mph. I never had any problem at MOT time but I figured I'd just write numbers on the glass with a marker if they ever questioned it.
Needless to say, the needle never got anywhere near ****!

After comparing my Pao's ride hieght with Miaspa's, I got up early the next morning to lop a coil off the rear springs before I went to work ;D
I think it'll need another before it sits level.
