Try sending the catch further in instead of out - theirs a happy medium with these catches - You will find if you send it in (rather than out) it will catch on another part of the cog and in theory work ok. Great work by the way and look forward to seeing it finished

I'll have a back light for a MK2 festa - just need to dig it out of the loft. It will have surface scratches but useable. You can have it for cost of postage or collect (i'm in Wakefield) don't suppose you have a fan switch (knob) as it's broken on the wifes XR2 ??

Thought i'd bump this thread up - I'm still after the above parts if anyone can help. I thought i'd sourced em via Nissan Silvia site but the chap never got back in touch with me having gone through what I have I also need a starter, Crankshaft pulley, Cambelt cover complete and a manual Transmisson ECU. I would consider buying a whole car - crashed / smashed/ rotten etc but must be manual transmission and can collect within say 100 miles of Wakefield West Yorkshire. Or does anyone know of one in a scrap yard in my area Any help greatly received as i'm nearly at the position to get this lot trial fitted..

For my sins I have a 1988 Talbot Express 2.0 and to be honest I think it's a good honest van. The gear change can be wooley but with the correct (and very cheap) mod they can be be good change (Mines spot on & knuckles fine . My only gripe was the seating position and the comfort of the seat but thats an easy fix when I get round to it. When I did a 2000 mile tour in a few years back got 25 /30 mpg no probs (don't think its worth paying a premium for the diesel) Yes they corrode but what average van of the period didn't.

Being the owner of a Mint original 2.8 Capri for the last seven years it's a one horse race for me Cappa every time although I have to be honest and always liked the last in the line 'exclusive' Manta coupes - But when push comes to shove my votes gotta be a 2.8, however in my virtual Lottery garage there would be room for em both

Yes tried there first - very helpful and sorted me with most of the bits I need. have you got the plate thing that goes behind the flywheel too? check it has a spigot bush also. Probably got a slave cyl somewhere if you get stuck The engine I have is out of an auto so i'm unsure exactly what i'll need. I have the clutch and gearbox. this is the picture of the engine 'as is' If you have a slave cylinder, cheers let me know

I remember going to Bingley show in West Yorks in 1980 with my dad and the local BL dealer had a stand. An Equipe was pride of place on the stand and my dad was having a good nose round the BL tat. Suffice to say we didn't get a BL he bought a chevette instead.
Keep those pictures coming and be good to see those lovely stripes back on it ... Good luck with the project

Good luck with the phone call but to be honest your getting a lot of sound advise here to stay clear. However if it is legit IE been stored for years and the log book etc has been lost then providing you can get the vin number you should be fine. Only problem you will have is if the strut top has been welded in the past (highly likely) and then you have the problem of digging around to find it they were never well stamped anyway so don't attack the paint with a grinder or you might lose any number for good. I bet it's been in a scrapper some where and the log books gone off saying scrapped so even if you do get the vin get an hpi done on it (which will give you the number as well)
Using id from another car is 'ringing' and illegal..

Great to finally turn up at these meets and ace to see some great cars - Mk3 Tina does it for me ... one day ..... Some great pics and videos, glad I made the effort this time. Although the Capri is officially off the road now, driving home there is something not quite right with the suspension so i'm gonna rebush it and get the brakes sorted while i'm at it. Get it fresh for next year. So next meet i'll turn up in't XR2 I think

Been watching this thread for a bit being an avid Cappa fan myself - can't avoid posting a comment now after all this work. doing a grand job and the work is top notch. I feel quite embarrased that after a year working on my project i've only got the n/s wing off Great inspiration to us all

Being a panel beater by trade I can fully appreciate more than most what your doing here. You've clearly got a good bunch of mates I like how you've joined the roof - I can see why you wouldn't want to go the usual route with the pillars. At least by cutting the rear off you can treat all those areas that are oftem missed. Bet it was fun lining up for the first time Good luck and i'll keep a watchfull eye on this one ..
