The Pop was originally PR (Dorset) but is now YA (Somerset). Having said that it has lived in Somerset all its life. First owners lived in Stalbridge, Somerset but more than likely bought it from the Ford dealers in Sherborne, Dorset.
Wolseley is currently AS (Nairn, Scotland) but it's a re-reg as it was originally 3 BOM (Birmingham). Wish it still had that number! Chap I bought it from lived in Towyn, Wales but had moved there from Brum where it had spent most of its life.
Mini is PO (West Sussex) and I bought it from Cornwall so it's been around a bit (little tart!). ;D

Great stuff Stuyizz! Those tyres must be ancient. Mine, probably out of the same mould Look like early Jagos to me. Have one sat festering quietly in my Mom's garage.

Very nice, just the right balance of trim to break the black but enhancing the lines. Could do with a top rail on the grille as it looks a tad unfinished without it. Other than that, cooler than a snowman's danglies...

Diesel ones are pathetically slow, a stock flathead powered Ford Pop could out accelerate one and they suck juice like there's no tomorrow. Not nice!

To be honest get them off now and do a rough repair, will be better than the carnage cause by leaving them on any longer, trust me I remember the same thoughts as your having well. What he ^^^ said! They look bleddy awful on any car and especially on a Merc, makes it look like cheap traveller tat. Hated the bleddy things when I worked for an MB dealership (back when that car was new! ) and still hate them. The car itself is phuquing gorgeous, will always regret not buying my FiL's low mileage metallic brown one.

A 40. Looks like all is not standard here.... Thought not! Not sure what lump this is though. Actually that's an A35 and that lump is a Fiat Twin Cam, as usualy found in Minors. Cool little sleeper! ;D

One for the Moggy Minor owners...
My Wolseley 1500 has the stock drums on the front, most of the time they're okay.
However, having had a vacuuming-myself-to-my-seat moment this afternoon when some twonk in a A-class Merc pulled out in front of me and having almost bent the pedal in an effort not to hit the moron, methinks it's time to upgrade to discs.
The Wozza's front suspension is basically Morris Minor and I know that there are kits out there to upgrade to discs so just wanted the RR collectives' opinion on them: price, value, ease of fitting etc.....

Tony, your Consul is monocoque construction so it has no separate chassis. If you chop it up into a pickup then as far as the DVLA is concerned then it'll need SVA as you'll have altered the monocoque.
Sounds like a lot of work - may be easier to import a Ute from Oz? Then at least you'd have no legal hassles.

I was looking at the blocks on rally design and on ebay,but no-one seems to mention the u-bolt width.Apparently the common ford ones are 2 1/2" but the ones on the camper are 3" from bolt centre to bolt centre.....this is why I was looking at de-cambering in the first place because of the seeming lack of wide u-bolt kits. How about getting a local engineering shop to make you some up? Shouldn't cost too much, then eBay for the blocks... ;D

If you only want to lower it by a max of a couple of inches then lowering blocks are the cheaper alternative. Check places like Rally Design and the like for prices.
If you're going to reverse the eyes and / or de-camber then take the springs to a local spring company (check for commercial vehicle spring remanufacturers in the yellow pages etc) and get it done properly by them. They will retemper the springs properly so that they match and you don't have the potential of sudden failure.

Piccy of leaf spring... The "eyes" are the curled over bit at each end of the main (longest) leaf of the spring. This is a normal leaf spring where the eye curls up and over - a spring specialist can re-roll this so that it curls under thus lowering the vehicle by double the distance between the leaf and the centre of the eye. The spring will be located by a pin through the eye at the front and a shackle (the black bit in the photo) at the back. A Haynes manual will give the proceedure for removing the springs safely.

Find a local spring shop and get them to reverse the eyes. If that doesn't drop it enough there are always lowering blocks.
