Christ, I'm clearly put of touch as well!
That is absolutely dead money. How much is it worth currently? How much is it worth painted? The maths should dictate the sum available tbh.

As above that's old stock, take it back and get a refund or a much newer one.

If you approach it by not expecting them to pay out on anything if needed then you might find the fee worth considering or not depending on what you intend to use it for, it just gets you on the Motor Insurance Database for the day basically.
You'd probably get better service by sticking him on your insurance for 7 days tbh.

Haha, been there done that. Had an ongoing mysterious noise from the back end of a mk1 passat estate many years ago, yep loose wheel nuts on left rear.

If you intend keeping the car you may as well just spend the £20 - £40 on a cheap ball joint tool kit for it.

Gas for thin stuff, inverter for small and light and much easier to learn on. I'd look for used but then i am a tightwad as you get more for your money. New if you intend to use it a lot and need the warranty. Well worth having a look here: www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/

£5 KKL lead or better yet a £10 one with genuine ftdi chip and then a google search for vcds lite v1.0 registered. Run it on an old laptop as AV doesnt like the loader.exe. (or else pay the $99 of course!)

Might make a noise like blowing across a bottle top, can't think of any other real disadvantage.

I've lapped worse than that before. Coarse paste cuts thru that quick enough.

Find out who owns the garages and ask them about it. if I owned them and someone left a car in there 15 years untouched with no way of contacting them and no rent being paid I would assume it was abandoned and take ownership of it myself.

And make sure the lowest amps is low enough for thin metal.

disconnect the cables and see what happens manually on the selector gubbins, might be something internal, if the bearings and gears are good probably worth pulling it apart and finding what the score is and fixing it for a few quid. They have weak bearing on output shaft nose that destroys the gearbox if left to fester too long, can be fixed real cheap if caught early enough.

Think they might be 02T box at that year not 085 but not sure on that. Ask them for the gearbox code and mention where to find it (boot floor sticker is usually good enough) then look it up for ratios and fitment. Ibiza have bigger wheels and tyres than lupo so likely the ratios are shorter anyway.
