There is a guy based in Castle Combe circuit that will change chip in the ecu and remaps it to get nearer 170bhp
He's called Leighton, if you search for Sabre motorsport on line you'll see what they can do. Most stuff is for the later ST range but he's done some work on a Puma which I believe was running standard management. They fettled my old cvh turbo to run really sweetly (I wanted driveability over headline power figures)
Always worth a phone call to see what they can do for your exact requirements and they also tune other brand's of car's and ecu's!!!

Don't need to be a mechanic for a trade card, just say your a service engineer for your existing company and work on site's sometimes requiring tools urgently rather than ordering from the likes of Buck and Hickman (another source of tools but they usually don't carry stock now so takes 24 hours to turn up and the quality has dropped with some of the budget stuff since Brammer merged)
Another source for tooling is at the bigger classic car show/restoration shows. Usually a couple of Bergen supplier's there and it's a good product for the hobbyist. I think all bar one of my 2ft breaker bar's (you can never have too many, lol) have been bought from shows and I've yet to snap one!!!

Vince at Bristol Autocare is really good and affordable (from first hand experience) check out his T25 turbo via Google. There's also Grant motorsport, he's built plenty of engines over the years that have raced in the VW Cup. Knows his way around most VW engines.

Thanks grizz and Craig for allowing me to be the mute co-pilot, the writing and stories are hypnotic and enthralling. If Carlsberg did road trips then you two would be the barmen!!!! Here's to the next big escapade!!

Bought a mk4 escort van with a repair to the rear inner arch made with sand, cement and a coat of chassis black! The hole was almost big enough to get my head through, wish I could find out who did it as the house needs rendering and their finish was perfect!!!!

Hotwire, perhaps the easiest way for a suitable result is to contact the planning department directly (as it's a conservation area) and find out what your not allowed to have. That will narrow down your options and then you can fine tune your priorities, do you want security, sound/heat insulation or ease of use, etc.
It's a sweetshop's worth of options out there (I have the similar problem as currently going through the planning process but for two garages with different uses) and sometimes someone neutral (planning department) focusing your mind can pay dividends. Good luck and remember it'll be three times what you want to spend and twice as much as you budgeted!!!!

Apologies for ruining any potential big announcements, is there going to be a gathering next year and if so, any potential dates? I can't find any information on Google and need to book next year's annual leave (I work weekends) as soon as possible otherwise I'll definitely not get any day's off in August. Cheers

Hi, I'm looking for dry secure storage for two car's, is there room? It would only be for storage and not working on them, just don't want them to be covered in grinding dust or overspray. Pm me if it's easier for you, cheers

Due to a impending house move I'm now in the situation of having a clean design sheet for a new garage. Due to needing it to be ready fairly quickly after moving in I'm looking at metal prefabricated garages, mainly from eBay which state they'll be ready in approximately a month. Trouble is I'm in the South West and they seem to be made in Scotland and I'd rather view before buying.
I quite like the look of the one on Flipping bangers, especially as they have a ramp fitted and it's reasonably easy on the eye and doesn't look like a warehouse. Especially as it'll be in view of the house and in the middle of the suburbs. What's the pro's and cons with them re noise pollution, condensation, etc. Or do you have a better option?

Build it free standing from your neighbours garage, A, the soffit won't be strong enough to withstand any loading (it's basically a trim piece) and B, legally you would need to have a party wall agreement signed with the neighbours and lodged with the deeds of the propertys via a solicitor. A lot of unnecessary expense compared to sinking a couple of extra post's!!! And if the worst did happen and a storm did damage the garage your not going to be blamed!!

Got some 17's with legal tyre's, some fairly new, £110 and there in Bristol. Five spoke with all centre caps, there's some mild kerb rash and paint damage but they are in reasonable shape and a coat of paint would do them wonders! Had them on the Mrs focus (hence the kerb rash, lol!!!) . If you pm me an email address I'll send you some photos, being the technophobe that I am, I can't seem to put any photos on here!!

Mate is 6ft 11 and three quarters, he's had a type 3 fastback vw, mk2 golf's, several scirocco's, mk2 mr2 non targa. Apparently one of the most comfortable was a Fiat cinquecento sporting. His nearly as tall brother has a seat ibiza, it appears that the physical size of the car isn't relevant to the interior space as my b5 Audi A4 is lousy for legroom. Best suggestion is to try out as many different local cars as possible and then make your choice from that.

My mate fabricated one for a lancia dedra from some drawings he found online. Worked really well, cost about £100 in materials and was a godsend for the amount of welding a lancia requires, lol!!! The garage this was done in was quite narrow, the car had to be wedged up against one wall to open the door on the other side of the car. We did drop the engine /gearbox out and remove seats to reduce the weight before setting it up. Was worth all the effort and actually made more space for working. The amount of time it saved and the ease of repairs and painting I reckon saved months.

I usually use M10 or M12 threaded bar, anything smaller generally doesn't cope under the stress. Washing up liquid is also a good lubricant for this type of work. Hope this helps

Got one in Bristol. Slight rust starting where the missing weather strip should clip on. Comes with electric window mech and green tint glass. Pm me an email address and I'll send you a picture, not technically savvy so can't link it into the thread.

There's a company called Woollies that do the beaulieu auto jumble, I've bought from them for several car's and it's been a good product. They are bound to be online somewhere or if not, email the organiser organisers who will have some contact details.
