Yesterday I finally managed to get to my Osteopath about my bad back, and he's confirmed something I've been thinking for a while - the choices of cars I've got is wrecking my body! All my cars are small inside, be it the Panda, Niva, or even Fiat 124. Now I have to start thinking about my health a bit more as I get older, and being 6ft 5in tall isn't going to mean having small cars for much longer. Being squashed into something like the panda means I have knee and shoulder pain all the time The Panda will be staying as it's part of the family, but the Fiat 124 and probably the Niva will be going. So with this in mind, what recommendations can people suggest for a very tall guy, as I still want to have a classic car. Some stats for you - size 12 feet (so need space around the pedals), 36" legs (so need space for my legs under the steering wheel), and long arms (so need decent cabin space)

not your choices of cars but your seating in those cars, adapt them to suit.
a friend is 3 inches taller than you and has a 205, has had 106's, bigger feet too.

The VW Polo has always been a good option for the short to the very tall.

Peugeot 205, I'm only 6ft but 34" leg and size 12 feet and can't reach the pedals with the seat fully back. A mate is taller than you and has a gti 1fm and a cti, long history of other 205's as well.

If you are prepared to restore a car then you must be capable of adapting seat runners or relocating them further back onto the floorpan of a car to give you extra travel!!! My size 10s get in the way of a lot of older car pedals so I've learned that trainers are better to wear than boots. Its like you are prepared to throw away the car when it's run out of petrol. Adapting to suit should be pretty straightforwards for somebody prepared to bring a Fiat 124 back to life.

Hi PandaSelecta I am similar spec to you but a bit bigger in the foot. Some cars I have comfortably owned/driven. Vauxhall FD Victor Fiat 130 (V6) Rover P6B Triumph 2.5PI Mk1 Estate Peugeot 405 BMW 525i BMW 318Ti Discovery 300tdi BMW Mini Alfa 147 Range Rover L322 VW Amarok
Nothing with a sunroof as they steal useful headroom Lots of vans are built for the larger driver.

Mate is 6ft 11 and three quarters, he's had a type 3 fastback vw, mk2 golf's, several scirocco's, mk2 mr2 non targa. Apparently one of the most comfortable was a Fiat cinquecento sporting. His nearly as tall brother has a seat ibiza, it appears that the physical size of the car isn't relevant to the interior space as my b5 Audi A4 is lousy for legroom. Best suggestion is to try out as many different local cars as possible and then make your choice from that.

I'm 6'6" with 36" leg and size 12's, all the above suggestions seem good, be different to the 205 and try a 309, or more left field, a Renault 4.

I have size 14s, i'm 6Ft4 (and 20 stone) and the 106 is drivable but the 3 knackerd discs in me back rule it out for long journeys, i have a fiesta Mk6 for those, i find support on the back of the thighs is what helps for me but anyone with back problems will say differant things help, i cant stand big lumbar supports they make my legs go numb, others swear by it, TBH the only vehical i find comfy for long journys is a van, totaly upright with legs practicly hanging down to the pedals.
