I would stick with the Galaxy head, the RS head has the thermostat take off at the back of the engine and you end up with a very high compression ratio.
I got just over 200 bhp out of a Galaxy 2.3 with 0.010" head skim, Vulcan engineering porting job, Kent RS2001 cams and GSXR 750 throttle bodies.
Also Emerald ECU to control it all.

I have a TIG from R tech welding that I used for the exhaust manifolds and a 20 year old 100 amp Sealy MIG for the bodywork.
If I'm lucky I get manage to spend one day a week working on the car and I work slowly!

I want to avoid bolting loads of Cossie bits to the outside, but it does need bodywork and paint as you will see in the pics that follow. The plan is for it to look like a regular 5 door that's got a nice set of wheels. I have a problem with the ARB hitting the bellhousing Spacers made to try and correct it They are a bit big and make it hard to get the TCA's in the front cross member with the increased castor angle. I will probably thin them down and cut the bellhousing as well for clearance. Modifications for hydraulic clutch Centre push release bearing as there is nowhere for a clutch fork with my hybrid bellhousing Next it's getting stripped to the bare bones

Not sure about the flywheel but the Galaxy cams are low lift jobbies.
If you can find a pair from a RS2000 it would give more power.
Scorpio 2 litre cams are supposed to be the same as the RS2000 ones but I've not checked this myself...

No Pinto and definitely no YB ;D. I had a Cosworth and hated the power delivery. Intake manifold to match the heads Just squeezes under the bonnet With the T56 the car will have two overdrive gears hopefully giving a bit of economy on the motorway 6th gear will give 31 mph per 1000 revs

The pics make it look like I've been working fast but I've been at this for over two years Engine goodies Edelbrock performer RPM aluminium heads Scat cast steel stroker crank to bring it out to 5.4 litres along with forged rods and pistons Costing me a fortune so I hope it's all worth it in the end!

Thunderbird was £300 for the complete car so it was worth buying just for the engine. T56 bellhousing next to TKO bellhousing for my engine TKO is too long A quick tickle with stone cutting disc in side grinder Next I had a lump of ali welded to it by a lad I know, he made a great job. I then borrowed the CNC machining centre where I used to work and machined it to suit the T56 I am doing this pretty much single handed so the easiest way to get the engine and gearbox in is from the bottom More pics to come I promise!
