Hi,
I have started building a 2.3 i4 powered Morris minor and using a mt75 gearbox. Can any one tell me if i can use the standard ford galaxy flywheel and what could i get a starter motor off of that will fit this combination. also are all the ford spigot bearings the same size.
Stuart.

Great engine, 2.3 version of the late Escort RS2000 unit. Also as a 2.3 in the late Scorpios.
I'd look to the Escort specialists for such parts if you've got the shillings, or the Scorpios if you're a breakers rat like me.
But then it's derived from the pinto, so you might just be able to use Sierra stuff?

Not sure about the flywheel but the Galaxy cams are low lift jobbies.
If you can find a pair from a RS2000 it would give more power.
Scorpio 2 litre cams are supposed to be the same as the RS2000 ones but I've not checked this myself...

Thanks very much for the cam info i will need to get it running first which may be difficult as I have pulled the wiring harrness apart to remove all the bits I don't want, then i will have a play.

2.3 bottom end is a common upgrade for the rs2000's , use the rs2k head , flywheel etc , the 2k uses a mtx box,.

I would stick with the Galaxy head, the RS head has the thermostat take off at the back of the engine and you end up with a very high compression ratio.
I got just over 200 bhp out of a Galaxy 2.3 with 0.010" head skim, Vulcan engineering porting job, Kent RS2001 cams and GSXR 750 throttle bodies.
Also Emerald ECU to control it all.
