Hi, Same here, heard it before. One afternoon I went round my mates w'shop for a social visit and he was just leaving, so we were standing in the yard chatting. Next thing screeching noise came in off the road and stopped and the young lady driving asked if there was a mechanic here. I looked at my mate to see whether he was going to volunteer but I could see he was reluctant because he wanted to go home. So I just said back it up a couple of feet and then come forward again, silence! There you go. She was aghast, her face was a picture.

Hi, Is this any help?
On a more serious note, check if there are any stones caught between the caliper and disc, that can make a screeching noise.

Hi, It was a quirk of the forum that pics couldn't be put in the first post. However, if you posted the first one without pics, then went back and edited it the pics would load OK. Whether that is going to continue or be changed under our lord and master's stewardship of his improvements remains to be seen.

Hi, It sounds like it's picking up an earth between the gauge and the sender, so look for damage to the loom or evidence of melted insulation on its route from gauge to sender.

It's not your problem, your insurance company will deal with it, it's their problem, that's one of the reasons you pay for insurance. A "no fault" claim shouldn't affect your "no claims" bonus, however don't be surprised if your premium goes up a bit next year. LinkyI have had a no fault claim, and if on the insurance form when buying or renewing it asks if you have had any claims in the past I tick NO, otherwise they will load you. Message to the OP: my claim was a fairly simple one, I too was rear ended [fnarr fnarr] and it took over a year to get a payout/settlement, I went via an accident management company and not via my insurance, if I had another non fault claim I would do the same thing again, it keeps my own insurance company "out of it". And therefore it looks like you have never made a claim. Hi, It depends, did they claim off of the individual or their insurance company? If it was the individual, then it might work. If it was against the ins co then it would go on the MID as a claim. They won't necessarily challenge it, but they will factor it in the event of a subsequent claim in the future and say it was undisclosed information and may refuse to pay out. Don't say or deny anything that they could find out through other means. Colin

Hi, For the headlining you need a high temperature aerosol contact adhesive, on both cloth and base, give it a couple of minutes to tack off before laying the cloth on.

Hi, I'm no expert but are five wire units used as the master, relaying lock/unlock signals to slave units on other doors that only utilise three of the wires? Just a suggestion.

Hi, They were predominately after market wheels although some small manufacturers fitted them, usually in 13" size. The only candidate I can think of immediately for 15" size is MGA.

One of them I saw was for a Jaguar XJR that was "good on electric" 😂 so at least they're pretty obvious, but still quite annoying Hi, That's a gullibility check. Anyone in the know will move on, those that fall for it are the ones they want to spin their tale. Colin

It’s a series Land Rover steering box. Common swap on model As to improve the steering. Hi, Dez sorry to disagree but that's not a Land Rover steering box, the mounting face is wrong. I did think it might be Mk1 Transit, but the Pitman arm is wrong. Google is failing me at the moment. Colin

Hi, I just think it goes to show that customizing is cyclical. Back in the 70s it was about lowering cars then in the 80s it was about jacking them up and now we're back to slamming them again. The same with paint jobs first it was straight paint schemes then geometric shapes, fantasy scenes by airbrushing then back to straight simpe paint jobs. Back in my youth my step-father use to say "there's nothing new in cars" and not sure I understood or agreed, but I can now.
It's not to my taste but that does not mean it shouldn't be encouraged. After all it's not the first time i've been called a grumpy old sod.
