1982 Volvo 244GL by KGF Classic Cars, on Flickr SOLD / 01733 425140 / 07976 935046 / sales@kgfclassiccars.co.uk / Peterborough
Thinking of selling? Our proven commission sale or SOR (Sale or Return) program is a great way to utilise and access our professional services and facilities while still maximising the return from your vehicle with minimal hassle, stress and time, If you’d like to take advantage of this then please get in touch for further information. Alternatively If you’d like to move your vehicle on quickly and efficiently with minimal delay then we can make an offer on an outright purchase basis with payment and collection arranged soon after.
An astonishing Volvo 244GL in original condition with just 46,574 miles.EQUIPMENTFront spoiler, halogen headlights, headlamp washer/wipers, day running lights, steel sliding sunroof, tinted windows, power steering, central locking, crumple zones, steel tubes welded in the doors, engine bay light, luggage compartment courtesy light, three-point inertia reel seat-belts front and rear, heated driver’s seat, bulb integrity sensor, illuminated and lockable glove compartment with a table and make-up mirror, rev counter, rear centre armrest, safety belt reminders, quartz clock, ignition/lights buzzer warning, cigar lighter. Dealer Accessories; Volvo MW/LW radio, towbar, window etching. EXTERIORMetallic paint was standard on the 244GL and this stunning car is finished in Redwood Metallic, (Code 175). Volvo claimed in their 1982 literature that the average life expectancy of a Volvo is 18.7 years, 2.7 years longer than their closest rival Mercedes-Benz, and judging by the depth of shine of this unrestored car you can believe their claims! A few tiny touched-in marks and minor imperfections do not detract from the overall splendour on a car that defies its 42 years of age. All the chrome trim has a mirror finish and the large impact rubber bumpers and plastic trim are in fantastic order with a few marks. All glass is Volvo branded Templex and laminated to the front with Identicar window etching to all sections. Volvo mudflaps are still attached to all four corners and period number plates remain fitted. A real time warp example and unrivalled in many respects. INTERIORThe famous Volvo virtues of safety, reliability and durability are evident everywhere in this fine cabin. Upgraded Plush upholstery standard on the GL model is finished in Copper-brown and remains damage free thanks to pampered enthusiast ownership and low mileage credentials. Orthopaedic specialists helped to design the Volvo driver’s seat with lumbar support and integrated seat heating resulting in comfort and support. Passengers can enjoy one of 14 air outlets to produce efficient distribution of hot or cold air and all switch gear, controls and gauges operate including the Volvo Quartz clock and optional Volvo MW/LW radio. The boot area is very clean and still attached are stickers advising ‘how to use the jack’ to the boot lid and to ‘secure long load’ through the hatch into the cabin area. An impeccable and functional 244 interior promoting a pleasant and safe driving environment. ENGINE & TRANSMISSIONNew for 1982 and fitted to the 244GL was the 2.3 litre carburettor B23A in-line 4-cylinder engine. Effortless with the characteristic Volvo swoosh, it produces 112hp and works in perfect combination with the optional 3 stage torque convertor automatic transmission. Onlookers will admire the clean engine bay with all identification plates and stampings clearly visible. Even the delicate stickers remain attached such as the Volvo coolant sticker fitted to the header tank. Amazing. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKESThe original 14in steel wheels are finished in the correct bronze tint often lost to silver shades on refurbishment and being the higher spec GL model, has the attractive chrome embellishers, all unmarked. All four corners are shod in premium Michelin 185/70 R14 tyres with plenty of tread and the spare wheel still wears the original Michelin MXL tyre. Triangle split, dual-circuit brake system and stepped bore master cylinder accompanies power assisted and ventilated disc brakes to the front and drums to the rear, bringing the car to a safe and assured halt. HISTORY FILESupplied new on the 27th September 1982 to a Dr Edwin Mansell before being sold to long-term owner two years later, Mr Roger Little. Mr Little purchased the car from Brian Stevens Cars in Enfield, specialists in one owner low mileage cars for £5,795. Being the conscientious type, he opted for the Used Vehicle warranty for peace of mind and the car has remained continually garaged and used sparingly with old MOT certificates validating the low 46,574 miles. Such was his fondness and devotion for this car that a second daily vehicle was purchased so his pride and joy 244 could remain carefully stored with wheels off the ground in the heated garage! In 2019 Mr Little made the difficult decision to sell his pride and joy and KGF Classic Cars have since been privileged to find the car its third and forth owners! Sold by KGF Classic Cars in 2019 and 2021, the opportunity to have this stunning example back in the showroom will never be missed! In January 2024 a full engine and ignition service as well as cambelt and water pump has been carried out to offer total peace of mind and a ‘turn key’ purchase for the next lucky owner. Gaining an increasing following from a new generation of buyer drawn to programmes such as Luther and Volvo traditionalists struggling to find such a pure, low mileage 200 Series, this example will be the one by which others are judged. An exceptional UK supplied BMW 2002 with only 57,726 miles from new.EQUIPMENTAll-steel torsionally stiffened shell, rubber-padded bumpers, side rails, front fully retracting windows, front quarter lights, front hinged windows to rear, trip recorder, clock, cooling water thermometer, instrument lighting intensity control, fresh air heater, cigar lighter, battery and oil pressure warning lights. Factory Options; Rev counter in place of clock, sports steering wheel, laminated windscreen, heated rear window, 3-point inertia reel front safety belts, 2-point inertia reel rear safety belts, second exterior overtaking mirror, leatherette upholstery, front overriders, velour carpets, boot mats, lockable petrol filler cap, Becker Europa radio cassette. Accessories; BMW Sport Paket alloy wheels, ADAC - Allgemeine Deutsche Automobil-Club badge, Automobile Association badge, Coco Mats – Black and Neutral 2-piece front, ambient temperature thermometer. EXTERIORIntroduced as a compact, shortened version of BMW’s existing Neue Klasse Sedans, the ’02’ Series was named so in relation to the number of doors the cars had. This stunning 2002 model finished in vibrant Verona Red, (Code 024), boasts a brilliant uniform deep polished finish to the paintwork following an extensive full restoration carried out several years ago to include a full strip down of the entire shell and underside. The trim sections, rubbers and chrome work are incredible and virtually unmarked and the underside is stunning. There is a small area of delamination to the front screen at one bottom corner. Original features such as the BMW and 2002 model designation badges, original windscreen with running-in label, factory light clusters and BMW stamped lockable fuel cap will delight the avid BMW aficionado. A superb example of a model deep-seated in classic BMW history. INTERIORThe functional interior of this cockpit is clearly designed to suit the driver and highlights BMW’s visionary accomplishments which helped cement the makers place as a prestige marque. The body contoured seats in factory optional Tan leatherette are immensely comfortable and supportive. A very small repair to the edge of the driver’s side door card is visible but quite insignificant along with a tiny and out of sight hole to the lower side drivers seat base. The pearl finish headlining and full carpeting are super clean and intact and the dashboard has only one very small split. Very expensive 2-piece front Coco Mats in Black and Neutral cost $200 from the US! All switchgear and functions operate with precision including the optional Becker Europa radio cassette. Remaining just as BMW intended, this beautifully preserved and unspoilt interior is certain to impress in all areas. ENGINE & TRANSMISSIONThe technically advanced and civilised 4-cylinder 4-stroke inline engine with triple hemispherical swirl action combustion chambers produces 100bhp, enough to propel the car from 0-62MPH in 10.9 seconds and achieve top speed of 106mph. The spotless and detailed engine bay proudly displays original offside inner wing panel stamp and build plate along with stickers. The gearbox is an all synchromesh 4-speed unit with smooth and direct action, a sheer joy to operate. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKESThe standard steel rims have been upgraded with genuine dealer accessory BMW Sport Paket alloy wheels. Hugely sought after and valuable, these are genuine items rather aftermarket replicas as evidenced by the FPS (Fratelli Pedrini Sarezzo) stamping to the inner faces as well as the more textured finish. The rims and centre caps are in superb condition new premium Uniroyal RainExpert3 tyres have been fitted in January 2024. The spare wheel is housed in the very clean boot area alongside the original jack. Dual-circuit brakes incorporating 240mm front discs and 230mm rear drums feel positive in all traffic conditions to install complete confidence. Advanced features such as automatic pad wear compensation further emphasise BMW’s forward thinking. HISTORY FILERegistered new on the 1st April 1976, this exceptional UK example was registered by Mason Motors in Haverfordwest. The car has had just three former keepers in total and the third owner from 1986 to 2012 was responsible for undertaking the full restoration. A Motor Engineer by trade, the owner purchased the car from a friend in 1986 knowing how good it was but the intention was to make the car one of the finest in existence. A full strip down included sandblasting of the bodywork and meticulous refurbishment of components before a professional repaint in the original Verona Red. The project was finally completed in 2008 and a detailed letter in the history file from the third owner along with a photograph of him beside the car recounts the story beautifully. A neat folder containing invoices and previous MOT certificates also contains a letter from BMW Group Classic Division confirming that the car was built on the 25th August 1975 and delivered on the 11th September 1975 to BMW Concessionaires G.B. Ltd in Brentford. The original book pack, spare keys and a BMW ‘02’ Series sales brochure completes the history file. KGF Classic Cars are proud to present this exceptional example whereby the next appreciative owner will marvel in the condition and appeal of this very special car. MOT January 2025, HPI Clear. A Diamond White Ford Escort RS Cosworth Luxury with only 408 miles!MODEL HISTORYThe Ford Escort RS Cosworth was a sports derivative and rally homologation special of the fifth generation Ford Escort. It was designed to qualify as a Group A car for the World Rally Championship. It was available as a road car from 1992-96 in limited numbers from Ford’s Specialist Vehicle Engineering, (SVE), Group. It combines the hand-assembled engine expertise of Cosworth and the coach-building crafts of Karmann. In order to accommodate the larger Cosworth engine and transmission Ford developed the car around the chassis and mechanicals of its predecessor, the Sierra Cosworth. A very rare car with only 7,145 examples being produced with this example being one of the very last. (Source Wikipedia, 1995 Edition One RS Brochure, RS Owners Club). EQUIPMENTBody colour front bumper with black lower extension, front air dam, louvred bonnet air intakes, wing air extraction grilles, integral driving lights and fog lights, driver airbag, central double locking, padded armrest with cassette storage, oil pressure gauge, turbo gauge, voltmeter, quartz digital clock with ambient temperature, electro-luminescent dials, Ford 2007 RDS radio/cassette. Factory Options; Luxury Model comprising of; electrically operated and heated door mirrors, ‘Quickclear’ heated windscreen, heated washer jets, three-spoke leather covered steering wheel, rear centre armrest, rear head restraints, electric sunroof, electric windows, carpeted door bins. Air conditioning. EXTERIORWith 200 hours detail development in Fords own Cologne wind tunnel the rally-bred innovation of this pristine example is unmistakable and outwardly exhilarating. Finished in iconic Diamond White, (Code B 2), the finish can be described as impeccable thanks to the ultra-low mileage and indoor storage. The black lower bumper extension with front air splitter has no marks. All glass, lights and trim are in perfect condition. The underside of this 408 mile example is astonishing. Labels, stickers, tags and paint dabs are visible just as it left the factory. The light application of wax applied at the Rheine Assembly Plant with a yellow tinge has never been removed and this example is absolutely the blueprint to Fords scintillating Escort RS Cosworth. INTERIORThe interior of this late production Escort RS Cosworth is as new and exactly as Ford intended. The body-hugging Recaro seats adorned in Hexagon Grey Cloth, (Code L9), are sublime with complete fullness. All trim, switch gear and touch points are factory fresh in part due to the incredibly low mileage but also due to the owner wrapping protective film throughout. The door cards and all carpeting is perfect. Turning on the ignition reveals all electrics operational including the Ford 2007 RDS radio/cassette and being the Luxury Edition, a full range of features are standard with the added benefit of optional air conditioning too. Incredibly special and a collectors dream come true! ENGINE & TRANSMISSIONThe powerful and well proven Cosworth 2.0 litre 16v turbocharged YBT engine features the Garrett T25 hybrid turbocharger. Its lower rotor inertia, higher gas velocities and revised overboost strategy reduces turbo lag and improves drivability. 220bhp is quoted with 0-60mph obliterated in 5.7 secs and a top speed of 140 mph. To offer absolute piece of mind this example has been fully recommissioned in December 2023 by Cosworth Specialists, Harvey Gibbs at Supreme Car Services. The permanent Ferguson four wheel drive system with 34/66% front/rear power split mated to a MT 75 5-speed gearbox is a proven combination. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKESGenuine Ford RS 8 X 16” five soft-spoke alloy wheels built by Ronal are pristine and still shod in the specially formulated and factory Pirelli P Zero tyres developed for the Escort RS Cosworth. Electrically-controlled ABS anti-lock system with two microprocessors and ventilated front and rear discs offer immense stopping power having been recently overhauled. HISTORY FILEThis iconic Ford Escort RS Cosworth was built in December 1995 at the Rheine Assembly Plant in Germany and registered new on the 22nd January 1997. According to Ford historians, the last ever Escort RS Cosworth was also built in November 1995 and left the Karman factory on 12 January 1996 with chassis number SP93313, (unfortunely this car has now been stolen). Still registered to the Ford Motor Company, this would make this one registered keeper with minuscule mileage, one of the very last few made! Purchased by Rodney Fletcher, Proprietor of Rod Allen Cars at a Ford Closed Sale held by National Car Auctions on the 24th March 1997. The vehicle had covered 24 miles at this point as printed on the Lot sheet. Mr Fletcher covered 352 miles on Trade Plates before deciding to place it at the rear of his showroom surrounded by wall mirrors and marked up at a healthy £32,995. Knowing it was one of the last produced and no new examples were to be made, there it remained until March 2006 when a Ford enthusiast purchased it. The Used Car Sales Invoice reveals the purchase price of £32,995 along with two important letters. One from Rod Allen Cars asking the new owner not to modify or alter the original specification in anyway and if stored correctly and unused he would buy it back minus 10%. The other letter dated 31st March 2006 from Chris Shambrook, Manager Auction Sales at the Ford Motor Co, stating his predecessor, Mr David Berry, ‘remembers selling the white Cosworth at which time it had covered a nominal distance of twenty four miles’. At the point of sale in March 2006 the vehicle was fully serviced as evidenced in the history file and had its first MOT with 353 miles. The new owner had one further MOT in 2007 when the car had covered 378 miles before wrapping the car in protective film and placing it in storage. As an Associate Member of the RS Owners Club, offers would arrive over the years but were declined until KGF Classic Cars were contacted in November 2022. Eventually we were successful in purchasing the car in November 2023! Now fully prepared to the exacting KGF Classic Cars meticulous standards and fully recommissioned by one of the country’s leading Cosworth Specialists, Harvey Gibbs of Supreme Car Services. The original book pack is present along with three keys including the red master, the car is perfect in every way and represents one of the most original, lowest mileage examples worldwide. 1986 Ford Granada 2.0 EFi Ghia by KGF Classic Cars, on Flickr SOLD / 01733 425140 / 07976 935046 / sales@kgfclassiccars.co.uk
An early Ford Granada 2.0 EFi Ghia with just 32,898 miles and one owner.EQUIPMENTBody coloured grille, wide bodyside mouldings with bright inserts, remote control heated door mirrors, halogen headlamps, tinted glass, tilt/slide screened glass sunroof, multi-function quartz digital clock with ambient temperature readout, central locking, electric front and rear windows, tachometer, trip recorder, cigar lighters to front and rear, rear heater control, electronic model ERST-32PS stereo, graphic information module with monitors for door ajar, low air temperature and bulb outage. Factory Options; Metallic paintwork, 4-speed automatic transmission. Dealer Options; Tailored Ford front rubber mats, Ford jump-leads in spare wheel storage case. EXTERIORThis exceptional original Ford Granada wears the iconic Ghia badge, Ford’s signature of luxury and comfort. Finished in factory optional Strato Silver Metallic, (Code V6), the car is totally original boasting factory paint credentials rarely seen. The paintwork has a bright uniform finish to all factory panels and the bumpers and trims are near perfect. Close scrutiny reveals only the most minor imperfections and stone chips, utterly insignificant and left untreated in order to uphold rare originality. The original glass is etched with the registration and all lights are clear and fully intact. There is a small chip to the windscreen on the passenger side. Supplying dealer branded number plates remain fitted. A very rare find in such incredible untouched condition. INTERIORThe Ghia specification Savoy trim in Alabaster colour scheme, (Code A6), is in outstanding condition throughout. The huge armchair like seats are in pristine condition and all matching door cards, carpets and headlining are clean and fully intact. The original genuine Ford front over mats remain fitted. The fascia is in very good order with only three miniscule cracks and the steering wheel and all touch points show a clear lack of wear, commensurate with the low mileage. All switchgear is functional and the original model ERST-32PS stereo remains fitted and fully operational. The spotless boot area has immaculate carpeting and parcel shelf and even the genuine Ford jump lead storage case. Immensely comfortable and brilliantly preserved. ENGINE & TRANSMISSIONThe 2.0 EFi ‘Pinto’ engine develops 113bhp at 5500rpm and 160Nm of torque at 4000rpm, achieving a top speed of 117mph and 0-60mph in 12.7 seconds. Remaining in standard specification, the engine bay is very clean and displays factory plates, stickers and original inner wings with Ford emblem and date stamps clearly visible. The factory optional 4-speed automatic transmission operates perfectly. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKESThe original 14” X 5.5” steel wheels wear the correct genuine trims in superb condition with no scratches or scuffs. Brand new premium brand Uniroyal 185/70 R14 tyres have just been fitted and the spare wheel has the factory Dunlop tyre still fitted and unused with coloured banding still visible! The standard electronically controlled Anti-Lock Braking system, (a first for a production car at the time), with power assistance brings the car to an assured halt having been fully overhauled. HISTORY FILESupplied new by Ford Main Dealer, Stormont of Woolwich, and registered new on the 6th February 1986. The vehicle was registered new to Mr Trout who is the only owner the car has had! A genuine 32,898 miles has been covered from new and this example displays absolute breathtaking originality throughout, a real credit to the car’s sole owner. A loyal Ford fan and regular customer of Stormont, the Granada was a replacement for the owners 1984 Sierra which itself was a replacement for his 1982 Cortina! Remarkably the ownership trace for these three cars remains in the history file with corresponding order forms, sales invoices and part exchange purchase invoices from Stormont. The car was always garaged and used less with the owners advancing years. After a period of dry storage, the car has now undergone a full recommission to include a major service, all fluids, oils, cambelt and brand-new premium tyres. A full brake overhaul including discs and pads all round has been carried out too. Two keys are present along with the Ford book pack with service book, file of invoices and an early 1986 Ford range brochure. MOT December 2024, HPI Clear. INTERIORThe Black permeable leatherette upholstery to the bucket seats with built-in headrests is incredibly, still factory original and in very good order, with only slight usage wear to the driver base. The matching door cards are immaculate as is the vinyl headlining. The walnut fascia trim with foam padded dash top has no fade or cracks with a rich oak finish and the Karmann Ghia badge proudly displayed. All functions and controls operate including the Kienzle electric clock but the Sapphire VII AM/FM radio is inoperative. Original rubber floor mats and grey cord floor coverings are fully intact. An expensive and ornate AAC Wolfsburg Steering Wheel Type 3 is fitted and looks superb. The front trunk area is clean and offers additional storage to the innovative rear folding seats. HISTORY FILEThis 1970 model year Volkswagen Karmann Ghia was manufactured in January 1970 at the Karmann Coachworks in Osnabruck, Germany, where originally artisans made coaches for European nobility. This prime example was imported from Florida to the UK in August 2021 by a seasoned Volkswagen collector, William Ward. His VW collection incorporates the most iconic and immaculate air-cooled models amassed over decades. Frustrated by the overpriced and poorly restored Type 14 examples in the UK, he eventually managed to source a car directly from the US owner and ex Florida State Prosecutor/Vietnam Veteran, Mr Garringer. He too was a gentleman heavily involved in classic Volkswagen circles and the two formed a mutual bond to enable the car to arrive safely in the UK. A huge file of paperwork from renowned Volkswagen and Karmann Ghia specific specialists show the level of expense required in order to create such a beautifully restored example. An original handbook and period sales brochure is included. Fully UK registered and amongst the finest Karmann Ghia’s available, this example will delight in every respect. An astonishing Ford Capri 2.0 Laser with a miniscule 7,166 miles from new.EQUIPMENTBody-coloured grille, bonnet lip and light bezels, body-coloured door mirrors with driver remote-control, black painted bumpers with overriders, spoiler, tailgate wash/wipe, tinted glass all round, RS-style four-spoke alloy wheels, ammeter and oil pressure gauge, tachometer, quartz analogue clock, courtesy lights, perforated grey headlining, front reclining seats, three-spoke leather covered steering wheel and gear-lever knob, tilting/sliding steel sunroof. Factory Options; Metallic paintwork. Dealer Accessories; Locking wheel nuts. EXTERIORThis incredible special edition Laser was built as a run out model of the Capri and is truly amazing finished in Mineral Blue, (Code 55), a cost option when new. Factory correct in every way it remains perfectly preserved thanks to a most fastidious of owner for 30 years who proudly boasts even the air in the tyres and wiper blades are factory fitment before selling it in 2016! Dealer plates and rear screen sticker remain fitted and all rubbers, decals and plastics are hard to fault. Knowing the tendency of Fords to rust this example was treated to underbody protection from new by the conscientious owner and now remains what must be, one of the lowest mileage and finest examples to be offered. INTERIORThe interior of this family fastback is in astonishing condition finished in the Truro II cloth trim, (Code XE), with matching door and quarter panel inserts. It has all the comfort and convenience expected with the added benefit of no wear or damage! The dashboard has no cracks and all controls fully function including the two-speed heater fan and analogue quartz clock. The Ford ESRT 32PS stereo is fitted with a working electric aerial and all button and stalk graphics are vibrant white. The boot area is pristine with an untouched jack and wheel brace still held in place by two rubber loop bands. The rear parcel shelf is pin straight. Be prepared to step back into a 1986 Ford showroom! ENGINE & TRANSMISSIONThe 1993cc OHC unit with twin sequential venturi carburettor pulls incredibly well with a top speed of 113mph and 0-60mph time of 9.6 seconds. This engine has 37 per cent more power and 30 per cent more torque than the 1.6 OHC yet has better fuel economy making it the more desirable choice. The engine bay is incredibly clean and will delight those wishing to exhibit with the bonnet open. A full mechanical and electrical service with cambelt was carried out in November 2023. The 5 speed gearbox is light and works through the gears precisely and the clutch feels positive. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKESThis Capri Laser remains fitted with the factory RS-style four-spoke alloy wheels which have never been refurbished and are immaculate. Five matching factory fitted Goodyear Grand Prix S 185/70 SR13 tyres are fitted with the spare unused and still with Goodyear sticker attached! Also factory fitment are the wheel weights, valves and dust caps! The hydraulic dual-line servo-assisted front discs and rear drums stop the car quickly and in a straight line. HISTORY FILERegistered new on 1st August 1986 by Ford main dealers, Doughertys Limited, this example has had just two keepers and covered a warranted 7,166 miles. Purchased by Mr Lyons who specified Mineral Blue metallic paint and locking wheel nuts as highlighted on the new vehicle invoice, it was the first new car he ever purchased and he pampered it accordingly. His pampering is best described as fanatical and the car was utterly cherished claiming in a printed advert when sold in 2016 that it had only been washed three times since 1990 and covered up in his garage with 30 bags of desiccant in it as a precaution, (a substance that absorbs water). Despite minimal use it had more oil and filter changes that he could remember, was started and run every week or two and was only run on 4 Star petrol! MOT certificates and Ford invoices support all the maintenance work and low mileage. A letter from Mr Lyons to the only other owner, Mr Harris, is also included for verification of the special history of this car. All handbooks, service book, previous registration documents and spare keys are present and neatly filed along with all historic documentation. Representing a one-off example of the final edition Capri, this wonderful 2.0 Laser is ready for its next appreciative owner and would delight any Ford enthusiast and collector. 1985 Ford Capri 2.8 Injection by KGF Classic Cars, on Flickr SOLD / 01733 425140 / 07976 935046 / sales@kgfclassiccars.co.ukThinking of selling? Our proven commission sale or SOR (Sale or Return) program is a great way to utilise and access our professional services and facilities while still maximising the return from your vehicle with minimal hassle, stress and time, If you’d like to take advantage of this then please get in touch for further information. Alternatively If you’d like to move your vehicle on quickly and efficiently with minimal delay then we can make an offer on an outright purchase basis with payment and collection arranged soon after. A phenomenal Ford Capri 2.8 Injection Special with only 6,430 miles from new.[/b] EQUIPMENTRemote control driver’s door mirror, body-coloured grille and bonnet lip, lamp bezels body-coloured, power assisted steering, front and rear spoilers, anti-burst locks, tailgate wash/wipe, tinted glass all round, tilting/sliding steel sunroof, ammeter and oil pressure gauge, tachometer, quartz analogue clock, courtesy lights, perforated black headlining, front reclining Recaro seats, three-spoke leather covered steering wheel, boot light, instrument brightness control, Ford ESRT 32PS stereo cassette. Factory options; Black paintwork. Dealer accessories; Ford front fog lamps. EXTERIORThis unbelievable Ford Capri 2.8 Injection Special is exactly that, special! A genuine one owner example with a warranted 6,430 miles from new, this collector’s quality Capri is simply outstanding. Finished in factory optional Black, (Code A 9), the paintwork boasts a flawless finish throughout commensurate with the obvious ultra-low mileage credentials and total dedication to preservation from its one and only owner who writes in a letter in the history file that he has never washed the car, only polished it! The fully detailed underside portrays the days when the car attended shows, including a winning visit to Ford Fair whereby it rightly deserved its ‘Car of The Show’ prize. All dealer branding remains fitted including number plates, rear screen sticker and even the tax disc holder still showing the original 1985 disc! Be prepared to experience the thrill of buying the pinnacle of Ford Capri’s. INTERIORIncredible. Shielded from natural daylight in the owner’s garage and subject to just 6,430 miles usage, the interior is pristine. The supportive Recaro seats in grey high-grade leather with ‘Strobe’ pattern fabric centre panels, (Code Q5), are spotlessly clean with firm seat structure and even have the factory labels are still attached to the runners. The original ESRT 32PS stereo cassette and electric aerial are fully operational as is all other equipment and gauges. The ashtray has never been used but the cover has some tiny marks. The rear seats have never been sat in and the time warp boot area has the build label to the floor and the factory fitted Ford gas struts. The pin straight parcel shelf is suspended by the factory Ford rubber hangers and the 1985 date stamp to the underside has survived. Comparable to a 1985 showroom car, this interior is amazing. ENGINE & TRANSMISSIONThe Capri 2.8 Injection was the first offering of the new Special Vehicle Engineering (SVE) operation that had recently been set up in Dunton, Essex. SVE added a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system, an oil/water heat exchanger, viscous coupled fan and an improved radiator making the 158 BHP capable of 130mph and 0-60mph in 7.9 seconds. The fantastic engine bay has been fastidiously detailed for the show circuit with highly polished components throughout. The five-speed gearbox is smooth with a light clutch. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKESThe factory 7-spoke alloy wheels are unmarked with correct Ford badged centre caps and factory external weights. A collectable and highly prized full set of five Goodyear Eagle NCT VR60 tyres have remained on the car since new. The hydraulic dual-line servo-assisted brakes with ventilated front discs unique on the 2.8 Special are shiny clean with no wear. HISTORY FILEBuilt in March 1985 at the Saarlouis Plant in Germany, and supplied new to Mr Alridge by Ford Main Dealer, Dinnages Garages Ltd of Haywards Heath, on the 24th December 1985. The new vehicle invoice reveals a price paid of £10,591.59 less part exchange allowance for Mr Aldridge’s 1984 Capri 1600LS. A letter in the history file was written by the owner just before he decided to sell after 38 years ownership whereby, he details his custodianship of the car including how he collected his Capri from the dealership when it had covered just 3.7 miles and he was aged just 21 years! The car was driven home on that first day and parked in the garage only for the next day he woke to a foot of snow outside and the car could not be driven, very frustrating! Within the first year the owner decided to have a stainless-steel exhaust system custom made to exactly replicate the original at a cost of £1,078! Very soon into ownership and by his own admission, the car became an obsession and it was polished weekly, never taken out in the rain and has never even been wet-washed! The owner exhibited ‘PYJ’ at car shows in the 1980’s and 90’s including winning at Ford Fair, the ultimate accolade. The full book pack including all dealership point of sale literature has been kept along with an original 1985 Ford range brochure and separate Capri Laser/Injection Special brochure with price list. The original service book has the one and only owner’s details entered and a folder holds documents to include MOT certificates dating back to the first in early 1989 and invoices. Three sets of keys are supplied including the rare master key. A major service including all oils, coolant, brake fluid and spark plugs has been carried out in October 2023 using genuine Ford parts where possible. Look no further, you have found the ultimate one owner low mileage Capri! MOT October 2024, HPI Clear.
