I was wondering if anyone could help. Basically apnr parking systems (the lot of them) and staff parking. If an employee of a shop on a retail park has a shift of 8 hours or so and the maximum of time allowed for parking using the apnr type car parks is a few hours-ish (2 or 3 generally) how does the apnr camera distinguish against employees and customers? i.e so they don't receive a fine (I'm assuming staff parking is allowed freely in general using these systems??) Basically asking as I was looking at vacancies on certain apnr sites which are open to the public and staff alike and was wondering if anyone knew of how it works for them if they work on one? And before anyone ses it having done a google search most people say "bin them" ect ect, I just don't fancy receiving "junk" mail in the first place

Best bet Franster, whenever i've sold any cars it's been like a script writing them out but worth it in the long run explaining point by point, saves alot of hassle being truthful, good on ya!
Would just like to point out in my post above, didn't mean your car should be in the 'bangernomics territory" as it is a classic car and a retro i've always liked the look of personally but just meant if you were after cash quickish then the run it till it drops market always seem to be looking at sub half a grand region, and also those collectors who look to buy restore and resell to make a profit.
I'd agree with Benzboy about the enthusiast forums, perhaps also some other classic ones too? and as you say, keep fixing any little bits you can and use it as a swapping tool. GLWTS!

I'll offer some feedback/thoughts! (i'll try to be fair but firm) The head(even tho refurb)/heater matrix/stop start temp temperment 'might' be putting some people off. It's tough because personally when I list a car I try to list things such as that in detail like you have, and even though you think it's fair car the flip side people will probably think....but what if this that ect happens? It's also slightly over priced for the "run it for its mot/tax then bin it" market but not that appealing to a collector due to the fact its not the mintest/low miles example (even tho it seems in fairly good nick!) I like the car personally but sadly have no money and have no need atm for a retro! But would suggest maybe lowering the price slightly by a digit at the front? You might just tempt in those bangernomics (run till it drops) type of people for that money? Just a thought!

Shame about the damage to it like but if its all just cosmetic it still seems a top buy that. Unfortunatly I can't afford another car but doubt you'll have much trouble selling it! Out of pure interest tho does it have much rust/rot anywhere, cos it looks very clean indeed? Glwts from a fellow countryman!

Some good points made above.
I'd probably echo most of them, put it up for sale at a price you think fair and see if it gains any interest. Alot of the trouble with plates is unless you have something amazing or very short then it's all in the eye of the beholder and how someone interperets it.
From a personal point a view (and I'm no expert at all) i'd be very suprised if you made over a few £££ for it to be honest. Trouble is at the moment so many companies are online selling plates that theres a huge range of choice for people, it's not glaringly obvious what yours could mean so possibly wouldn't stand out that much.
Don't mean to put a damper on it, because as Panda states above well worth getting in contact with anyone who may be interested in it but bear in mine that it may be a long haul!

If you can find one and can afford it then possibly a mk1 Fiesta? was always the cheapest for me to insure from quotes.

Can't believe some of the ones posted so far, shockers! I suppose the good thing to take from these is it makes your reliase what kinda shape some cars can be in hidden away (such as the rear seatbelt mounts) Real eye openers!

Just had a brief look at the stats/prices on the crx and preludes. Never been able to find a tin top (prefered choice) when I was looking a few years back for under a grand, but having looked at the del sols they do have the same sort of mpg, just not the retro look....but I guess you pay for that! Preludes were an eye opener, just seen a few.....200hp for around 5-600 is mental! Good call guys! Only downside would be the insurance, I fear that would be a bit eye watering! To be totally honest I don't think an engine swap would be for me, i do basic maintenance/repairs ect but doubt i'd have enough money(when I get it) to have a car and another in the process of being engine swapped....or the space....or the tools Is something i'm interested in down the line but as I say just looking at nearer future options that can be picked up atm!

If it's a kid make sure it's not one of those matchhbox toys or hot wheeelers.....
but in all seriousness, it depends on your circumstances ect, would think that the mk1 would go up and up in value over time but the mk4 in my personal opinion a nice modern choice. If it was me i'd probably keep the mk4 but if you fancy a change and a possible investment (although this isn't cast in stone) then probably go for the mk1 depending on condition/milage/service history ect

eg2/jack would love a VTEC of any model to be honest, crx and civic (the ones I like) would probably be out of my reach even in years to come i'd imagine as they seem to be going up in value, typical as i'd probably go for one in the standard form pre modded.

I love how all the Saab enthusiasts come out of the woodwork when one comes up Massive fan of them myself after having my 9-3 last year, the lads over at the uk saab forum were very helpful when I had any issues with mine (which wasn't often!) so i'll second that!
