Met up with an old family friend at the weekend-hadn't seen him for 12 years as he moved to NZ. He's the reason I got into Toyota's in the first place etc. Anyway, he brought some old photos with me that I hadn't seen before including this one Showing a slightly broken works Supra rally car on its way back to be brought back to life sat outside where I lived I'm the little boy stood by the trailer-I'm guessing it was taken in 86? I found it interesting & shows the beginnings of why I'm into Toyota's more than anything else. Has anyone else got a history behind their favoured brand of car?

Sadly it wasn't what I was lead to believe it was Luckily spoke to the actual owner on the phone before going & having a look as it was in Devon, but turned out it was an '89 Celica & an import, so not the 30 year old bargain I'd hoped for! If it had been a bit closer to home then I would have gone & had a look anyway, but not really interested in one of those unless it was really cheap & local.

Doing the weekly shopping this morning & got chatting to the nice lady at the checkout (as you do) & the subject of cars came up due to a very nice 1930's something out in the car park. She then mentions that her daughter has got 'some 30 year old toyota thing' she's trying to get rid of as she's bought a new car.
I'm waiting to hear back form said daughter as phone numbers were exchanged, but apparently has '2 exhausts & is really fast' I've got the horrible feeling it'll be a mk3 Supra with a cracked head, but living in hope it might be something a bit more interesting.
Such a strange way to make a contact for what could be a bargain-not quite sure how to explain it to Mrs GW though if it appears on the drive by magic…. Anyone else found/bought a car from the most random source?

Also the 4k is a 1290cc, not a 1400, unless it's been bored out? Great little cars though-I'd love it if I didn't already have more than I can cope with!

I must go back & have another look & chat with them. Only recently moved to the area so don't know many people yet. Only round the corner from them in Maesbrook. Good luck with the project

That looks familiar, assume you found it near Knockin? Drove past it a few weeks ago learning my way around the area. I'd love one, but need to get my current cars finished before I start looking at any new projects!

I've got a photo of me somewhere with this car from back in the day-leaning out of the window of it with my godfather who worked for TTE at the time. Must try & find it again. Went on to be raced by Barry Sheene I think? There were 4 Celica Supras built between 1983 and 1985, 3 of them were RHD and built for circuit racing and 1 LHD car built in 1984 for Per Eklund to use in the BRC. The first circuit car was built for Win Percy to use in the BSCC in 1983 and early 1984 until it was crashed at the Easter meeting at Thruxton. It was rebuilt and used by Gordon Spice for the 1984 Spa 24 Hours and was then sold to Australia. The second car was built as a replacement for Win to use for the rest of the 1984 season before it went to Barry Sheene for 1985, where he wrote it off at Thruxton. A third car was then built for Sheene to use for the rest of the 1985 season, and was also used at that year's Spa 24 Hours. It was sold at the end of 1985 and was then destroyed in a crash during practice for the 1986 Silverstone TT. The LHD rally car was also sold off at the end of the 1985 season, and was last heard of in Scotland. There was a Group A Celica Supra for sale in 2010 that was described as being one of Sheene's cars and was obviously built using correct parts, but the wording of the advert wasn't particularly clear and both of Sheene's cars had been written off. As the car for sale was listed as being converted to a rally car at one point, it's possible it may have been the Eklund rally car converted to RHD, or the bits from the Eklund car or one of the written-off Sheene cars rebuilt into a new shell. It was this one if you can tell from the picture which car it was?

Pendle Engineering make similar racks for those who haven't got the time/skill/equipment to make them. Looks great though, good work!

It was 6 months in the welding before the rebuilding started. No way it'd be possible to weld it up in that time as well. The last two weeks before the wedding were mental. We both took time off work-my wife sorted the wedding & I worked on my car full time!

Wings have to the the hardest thing to find for any KP, not just the 30's. Steel KP60/1/2 wings are getting like gold dust now & loads of people are turing to fibreglass ones instead-might be worth looking into? Or importing from somewhere they're more common? I looked at getting some from NZ but the shipping was crazy unless I had loads sent over

Have you tried on the Irish AE forum? There's a couple of helpful guys on there, but KP30 parts are VERY hard to come by now, anywhere in the world, never mind in the UK with how much salt we throw on the roads in the winter!

I need a workbench for my garage now we've moved house. doesn't have to be anything special or particularly clean as long as it's pretty solid. Ideally within collecting distance of Oswestry, Shropshire.
Anyone able to help?
