about 8 years ago I bought a 1990 J import gt4 st185. spent way too much money on it, was a devil car and hated being on the road. eventually sold it and moved onto other J cars then finally a mk1 capri (still have the capri in the garage). about a month ago while searching for a garage with work I happened to stumble upon my old gt4. seeing the old girl again looking very sad for herself (killed a piston) I decided to enquire about buying her. a deal was made and not only did I buy my old car back but I also bought a J import (non registered) wide body full car as a donor. plan is to transplant engine and transmission over, move over the wide body panels, paint and sticker up as a rally rep. my old gt4 the day I found her again back home on my drive (I use the term drive loosely) donor car

Best of luck with your project. I will watching this with interest. I've had a soft spot for them ever since I drove one of the first ST165's ten miles on trade plates to fill up with unleaded ready for registration and delivery to it's first owner. Always promised myself I would find one for myself one day.

That looks familiar, assume you found it near Knockin? Drove past it a few weeks ago learning my way around the area. I'd love one, but need to get my current cars finished before I start looking at any new projects!

I must go back & have another look & chat with them. Only recently moved to the area so don't know many people yet. Only round the corner from them in Maesbrook. Good luck with the project

daywalker ur project looks cool. whats plans? rally rep? I'm not shore i have a sainz bonnet and bumper so a rally rep is possible but on the otherside I'm starting to like the japspec nose with 2round fogs a bit more to the center of the car. i have 2 gt4 bonnets 1 uk spec second us spec but i don't have the bumper cover and fogs. colorwise I'm thinking ford frozen white this moment but that can change. engin wise i want a 3gen 3sge wich is a good upgrade to my second gen and not so expensive as a beams because I'm on a budget read so cheap as possible without cutting corners.

yeah if I couldn't have gotten a cs bumper I would have searched for a J spec bumper. seen some stuff on the forums about using 215 head and inlet on the 205 engine. think I will keep mine all 185 as got some spares with the car. may look into side feed inlet though as makes it tidier under the bonnet when using a fmic
