Doing the weekly shopping this morning & got chatting to the nice lady at the checkout (as you do) & the subject of cars came up due to a very nice 1930's something out in the car park. She then mentions that her daughter has got 'some 30 year old toyota thing' she's trying to get rid of as she's bought a new car.
I'm waiting to hear back form said daughter as phone numbers were exchanged, but apparently has '2 exhausts & is really fast' I've got the horrible feeling it'll be a mk3 Supra with a cracked head, but living in hope it might be something a bit more interesting.
Such a strange way to make a contact for what could be a bargain-not quite sure how to explain it to Mrs GW though if it appears on the drive by magic…. Anyone else found/bought a car from the most random source?

I bought my hairdressers E30 320i, that had been sat on the drive a little while. Not sure I'd do it again looking back lol.

Some days you just need to take a grinder to an inanimate object, just to make your day a tiny bit better!!

Bought a VW Passat from a bloke who had an accident and wanted rid of vehicle at side of the road as i was walking past. Included was a tank of fuel. Knocked out the damage to front wing, resprayed wing and used it for a while before selling for same price to a hard up couple wanting cheap runabout.

I bought a beetle off the AA man that came out to me when the accelerator cable snapped on my bay van. He nipped back to his house to get a spare cable he for me. A week later his old beetle was on my drive.

I had a call once from the guy that ran the local ATS tyre centre telling me to go round to such and such a place as another one of his customers was selling an old Skoda (mk1 Felicia, £17.01 it cost me). Not that random in the grand scheme of things.

We're recommisioning a 195671 Land Rover series1 Range Rover Capri 3.1RS amalgamation "thing" at the moment. The owner mentioned having to move cars and stuff off his parents driveway. Obviously I asked if there was anything fun as Landies aren't totally my thing.... Now I have the 200SX...... Sent from my 200SX using proboards

I once approached the owner of a Lada Riva in Waitrose carpark, six months later it was mine!

About 17 years ago I bought a Metisse kitcar project that I'd seen advertised in the Northern Ireland paper edition of some free ads paper or other. The car and the seller were in East Anglia, and he'd advertised it in Loot or something similar. So how did it end up advertised in N.I.? Neither of us knows, but as his telephone STD code was 01763, and my local STD code was 01762, I suspect some mix-up in sister-publication overlap.

Sadly it wasn't what I was lead to believe it was Luckily spoke to the actual owner on the phone before going & having a look as it was in Devon, but turned out it was an '89 Celica & an import, so not the 30 year old bargain I'd hoped for! If it had been a bit closer to home then I would have gone & had a look anyway, but not really interested in one of those unless it was really cheap & local.
